Abstract:
An ostomy bag with a filter assembly having a gas filter and a pre-filter for preventing or delaying solid/semisolid matter and liquid from reaching the gas filter. The pre-filter is at least substantially flat and comprises a number of constrictions, such as ribs extending along and between two inner surface parts of the channel. These constrictions/rib form narrower and wider passages where the as may more quickly pass a narrow passage and where the wider passages tend to receive and hold the liquid, solid matter and semisolid matter. The constrictions may be provided as a single, monolithic element, such as an extruded element.
Abstract:
A dressing for debridement of necrotic and non-viable tissue in a wound, wherein the dressing comprises an effective amount of one or more proteolytic enzymes incorporated in a degradable polymeric material. The dressing of the invention provides effective debridement of necrotic wounds over a prolonged period of time, as the enzymes may be released over time. As the enzymes are incorporated in the polymeric material, a high stability is achieved.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprising a rubbery elastomeric matrix, said composition comprising one or more amphiphilic block copolymers and the use thereof for application in the medical field for instance for adhering of medical devices to the skin, in wound dressings or ostomy appliances and provides a quick and safe means for managing perspiration from the skin also when occluded with medical appliances.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a catheter assembly comprising a catheter handle and a catheter assembly comprising a catheter element and a container for accommodation of the catheter element. In a first compact configuration the catheter element and the catheter handle are separated to reduce the length of the catheter assembly. The catheter element is in the container and the catheter handle is attached on the outside of the container assembly. The catheter handle can be detached and interlocked with the catheter element to constitute in a second configuration a catheter device.
Abstract:
An adhesive patch (1) for covering a portion of the anatomical surface of a living being, said patch being (1) able to adhere to the skin, and/or a wound on a part of the body, said patch comprising a backing layer and a layer (2) of a skin-friendly adhesive for adhering to the skin, and said patch having a pattern of indentations (8) wherein the indentations (8) are in the form of a pattern of curvilinear indentations shows a flexibility capable of adapting to the contour of a skin surface or a joint that is frequently bent ensuring a snug fit and a safe grip.
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance comprising a base plate, said base plate having a first hole for receiving a stoma, ureter, or catheter and an adhesive wafer having a first surface to be attached to the wearer’s abdomen back, or chest; a receiving member or bag releasably attached to the base plate, said bag having a second hole for receiving wastes exiting the stoma, ureter or catheter; and a disposable inner bag liner forming a second bag inside the receiving member and being releasably attachable to the base plate in a first coupling area by first coupling means, said disposable inner bag liner having a third hole for receiving wastes exiting the stoma, ureter or catheter and the receiving wastes exiting the stoma, ureter or catheter and the receiving member being releasably attachable to the base plate by second coupling means wherein the first coupling means is in the form of an adhesive flange projecting from the rim of the third hole and having a surface for releasable sealing against a second surface of the base plate facing away from the user provides an ostomy appliance combining the advantages of using a separate, flushable inner bags with an easy, safe, hygienic and discreet management of the collected waste with maximum safety against soiling parts of the appliance not to be substituted when substituting the inner bag, which inner bag may be used directly together with existing ostomy devices.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an assembly for the preparation of a medical device having a porous coating comprising hydrogen peroxide. Particularly interesting medical devices are catheters (such as urinary catheters), endoscopes, laryngoscopes, tubes for feeding, tubes for drainage, guide wires, condoms, urisheaths, barrier coatings e.g. for gloves, stents and other implants, extra corporeal blood conduits, membranes e.g. for dialysis, blood filters, devices for circulatory assistance, dressings for wound care, and ostomy bags. The coating is in particular a hydrophilic coating formed from cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone. In one embodiment, the assembly holds a dry catheter element in one compartment of a package and an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution in another compartment. The solution may also comprise stabilizers, e.g. chelators, and osmolality increasing agents. The catheter for insertion in the urethra is useful for the treatment, alleviation or prophylaxis of microbial infections such as urinary tract infections (UTI).
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance body side member or an ostomy appliance comprising an adhesive wafer having a first adhesive surface for securing the appliance to the user's skin, said wafer having a second surface being covered with a carrier sheet which wafer has a hole for receiving a stoma wherein a part of the adhesive wafer surrounding the stoma shows balanced plastic and elastic properties allowing an adaptation of the size of the hole of the ostomy appliance to a stoma by enlarging the hole for accommodating the stoma by rolling up the inner rim thereof forming a torus and wherein a part of the second surface of the wafer surrounding the hole shows surface properties compatible with the first adhesive surface of the adhesive wafer locking the torus to the second surface in its rolled position by the contact between the second surface and the first adhesive surface enables a simple, safe and reliable customisation of the hole of a body side member without the use of tools and at the same time provides means for reducing the risk of causing injury to or constriction of the stoma.
Abstract:
The irrigation system comprises a reservoir (1) for irrigating liquid, a probe (3) for arrangement in a user, conduit means (6,7,10,11) for conducting the irrigating fluid from the reservoir to the probe, and a fixation member (5) for fixation of the probe in the user. Pumping means (9) are provided for pumping gas into the reservoir (1) to transfer the irrigating liquid from the reservoir to the probe (3). The fixation member includes an inflatable cuff (5), and the system includes a control unit (8) which may be set in at least a cuff inflating position and a liquid transferring position.
Abstract:
A wound care device comprising foam composition wherein the retention factor R v = R/ΔV of the foam is at least 0,05 wherein R is the retention capacity (g/g) and ΔV is the expansion of volume (% v/v) of the foam when wetted. A wound care device comprising foam with a high retention and low expansion of volume is achieved, which is desired in the treatment of wounds, especially chronic wounds.
