The invention relates to methods for utilizing polymer-reinforced elastomer products, especially technical rubber products such as scrap tires, conveyor belts, or drive elements. The inventive method comprises the following steps: - the elastomer products are comminuted; - the elastomer products are granulated; and optionally the elastomer products are comminuted in a cold state. Non-metallic reinforcements are separated in said steps. An improved construction material is obtained by carrying out the following steps: - the separated non-metallic reinforcements are comminuted in a mechanical manner, preferably by grinding and/or cutting, in order to create a pourable state that is largely free of an elastomer portion; - the comminuted non-metallic reinforcements are admixed to a construction material, especially one based on bitumen. The invention further relates to a fiber fraction and a construction material which are produced according to said method, and a device for carrying out the inventive method.

Die Erfindung betrifft Verfahren zur Verwertung von polymerarmierten Elastomerprodukten, insbesondere von technischen Gummiprodukten, wie z.B. Altreifen, Förderbändern oder Antriebselementen, mit folgenden Schritten: - Zerkleinern der Elastomerprodukte; - Granulieren der Elastomerprodukte; und gegbenenfalls - Kaltzerkleinern der Elastomerprodukte; in welchen Schritten jeweils nichtmetallische Armierungen abgesondert werden. Ein verbesserter Baustoff wird durch folgende Schritte erreicht: - mechanisches Zerkleinern der abgesonderten nichtmetallischen Armierungen, vorzugsweise durch Mahlen und/oder Schneiden, um einen rieselfähigen Zustand herzustellen, der weitgehend frei von einem Elastomeranteil ist; - Zumischen der zerkleinerten nichtmetallischen Armierungen zu einem Baustoff, insbesondere auf bituminöser Basis. Weiters betrifft die Erfindung eine Faserfraktion und einen Baustoff, die nach diesem Verfahren hergestellt werden sowie eine Vorrichtung zu Durchführung des Verfahrens.

A rubber reduction and recycling system (20) with dramatically reduced power requirements. The present invention provides a series of reduction stations (32, 38, 50) which successively reduce the size of the rubber (24) typically in the form of tires (24), to eventually result in crumb rubber (26). The power requirements are dramatically reduced by providing a fixed cutting plate (72) through which the teeth (66) of the cutting apparatus pass and cut the rubber (24) in a shearing fashion. Moreover, the teeth (66) of the cutting apparatus pass through the fixed cutting plate (72) at an angular disposition so that at any given point, a relatively small portion of the rubber (24) is being cut and thereby consuming power. Finally, the power consumption is reduced by providing the teeth (66) on rotating shafts (60, 62) in a plurality of series of arcuate patterns. Therefore, at any given time, only a relatively small number of teeth (66) in each series cut at the same time and thereby require power.
