Abstract:
A parting compound for green sand molding, which contains hydrocarbon oil as the principal agent and other essential components including a surfactant as a dispersant and an anionic surfactant and/or strongly basic amine as a wettability improver. This compound is used in the form of oil-in-water emulsion by diluting with water. Because of the dilutability with water, this compound can be readily stored and transported in a nonbulky state. Furthermore, the proportion of water can be increased as compared with that of the hydrocarbon oil in the step of applying the compound, thus contributing to resource saving and improvement in the resistance to fire hazard.
Abstract:
Contact of acid or alkaline cleaned aluminum surfaces, particularly cans, with a water based composition containing a combination of (A) water-soluble ethoxylated organic material selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated fatty acids, salts of ethoxylated fatty acids, ethoxylated alcohols having at least 4 carbon atoms and containing up to 20 moles of condensed ethylene oxide per mole of alcohol, ethoxylated alkyl alcohol phosphate ester, and mixtures thereof; and (B) an amount of hydrogen peroxide effective to prevent deterioration of the composition by the action of microorganisms, gives the surface after drying lowered surface friction without loss of high quality printability and lacquer adhesion and removes any brown spotting on the cans that may have developed during the cleaning or post-cleaning rinses. The cans after treatment are substantially free from any water breaks when rinsed with water. The foaming resistance and storage stability of the water based composition may be advantageously increased by adding a combination of liquid paraffin, solid wax, and a high molecular weight fatty acid derivative(s) as antifoam agent.
Abstract:
A lubricating oil composition is described which comprises a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and (A) at least about 1 % by weight of at least one carboxylic derivative composition produced by reacting (A-1) at least one substituted succinic acylating agent containing at least about 50 carbon atoms in the substituent with (A-2) from about 0.5 equivalent up to about 2 moles, per equivalent of acylating agent (A-1), of at least one amine compound characterized by the presence within its structure of at least one HN
Abstract:
Polypropylene is used as a component of a lubricant/release agent composition in diecasting of metals, with the composition containing the polypropylene finely dispersed in a liquid carrier, for example in an aqueous emulsion; and, a process of diecasting metal parts using said composition.
Abstract:
The present invention is a fluid which exhibits excellent electrorheological properties at low current densities, at high temperatures, and in the complete absence of absorbed water or water of hydration. In a preferred embodiment, the fluid comprises lithium hydrazinium sulfate dispersed in silicone oil, and in the presence of an appropriate suspension stabilizing agent.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Disclosed are fire-resistant hydraulic fluids which comprise: (a) about 20% to about 60% by weight water; (b) a sufficient amount of a hydroxyalkylated isocyanurate to form a hydraulic fluid with a viscosity from about 100 SUS to about 400 SUS at 100 DEG F, aid hydroxyalkylated isocyanurate having the formula: wherein x, y and z are each from about 3 to about 15, and each R is individually selected from hydrogen and methyl; (c) about 0.01% to about 5% by weight of a liquid phase corrosion inhibitor; and (d) about 0.01% to about 5% weight of a vapor phase corrosion inhibitor. isocyanurate fluids are comparable to known water-based glycol fluids in important operating properties such a lubricity and fire resistance, and have the additional advantage of offering a substantial reduction in the flammability of the residual material resulting from loss of water content.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition is disclosed which includes fumaric acid salts as the main lubricating ingredient dispersed in an aqueous medium which also includes an organic thickening agent and other optional materials. A hot forging process utilizing this lubricant composition is also described.
Abstract:
It has been found that a conveyor system can be lubricated with dilute [1.0 x 10 -3 M] aqueous solutions of a partially neutralized mono phosphate ester of the formula: wherein n has a value 0 to 3 and R is a C 12 to C 20 saturated or partially unsaturated linear alkyl group, or a mixture of such groups. The use of a synergist such as a long-chain alcohol, a fatty-acid derived amine oxide, or urea improves the properties of the lubricant compositions.
