Abstract:
An identifier for a conduit includes a substrate having a pair of apertures. The substrate further contains a frangible portion encompassing one of the apertures and having a shape that corresponds to an opening left in the substrate after removal of the frangible portion. The identifier enables the shape of the frangible portion to be correlated with the shape of the opening left in the substrate after the frangible portion is separated from the substrate.
Abstract:
A method for creating GIS features and populating a GIS feature attribute with information obtained from a bar code or similar identifier, for example but not limited to pipelines. The method of this invention includes scanning a code on a component to be installed or repaired, converting the code into attributes which describe the component, obtaining additional characteristics of the components, associating the component with a location of installation and placing the geometric feature onto the GIS map.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an assembly including: an petroleum extraction pipe (2) having a thread at the ends thereof, and two protectors (1) for the thread of said extraction pipe (2), each of the protectors including a tubular body and a thread that is complementary to said thread of the extraction pipe, wherein said assembly is characterized in that it includes at least one module (3) for containing information relating to at least one property of an extraction pipe (2), said module being removably connected to said extraction pipe (2).
Abstract:
A marking system for cutting an aperture for pipe clearance has a pipe and a pipe stamp. A stamp posterior side has a posterior aperture fluidly connected to an interior cavity. A first rubber stamp projection has an annulus that projects out and away from the stamp anterior surface. A second rubber stamp projection is centrally located on the stamp anterior surface having a general shape of an “X”. The pipe stamp slides over an end of the pipe via the posterior aperture. The first rubber stamp projection and the second rubber stamp projection are placed against a surface for applying a mark for cutting an aperture for pipe clearance.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for attaching an encapsulated marker to a flexible hose, such as a hose or cable. The method involves providing a flexible hose (100) having a rubber or plastic outer cover (202) positioned over an inner layer (203, 204). An annular segment of the outer cover is separated and removed to form an annular groove in the outer cover. A marker (101) is then positioned over the inner layer (203, 204) within the groove and a transparent encapsulating component (201) applied over the marker. A containment means (200) is then overlaid on the encapsulating component and overlaps onto a region of the outer cover either side of the groove. The cover assembly is then heated at elevated temperature. After cooling, the containment means (200) is removed. The encapsulated marker assembly is therefore provided which is chemically bonded or fused to the outer cover (202) of the flexible hose and is aligned flush with the external surface of the flexible hose.
Abstract:
A coupling including a tubular body with two ends of the body each including a portion of internal threading for joining to a tubular element, and a central portion separating the two ends each including a portion of threading and having a wall thickness greater than the wall thickness of the ends of the body. The coupling includes an extension segment that extends from one of the ends of the tubular body, after the portion of internal threading, the extension segment having same outside diameter as that of the tubular body and an inside diameter greater than or equal to that of the portion of internal threading. Moreover, the extension segment includes a housing, including an opening onto an external surface of the coupling, in which an electronically responsive identification tag is housed.
Abstract:
Described is a device for protecting a pipe, tube or conduit end that is left open or exposed without a fixture or terminating end. Instead of tape placed over an open pipe end, a specially shaped and marked protective cap provides a seal and a unique marker for each pipe end. The marker may be color coded, bar coded or numbered. Such protective cap seals pipe ends against moisture, dirt and other debris thereby reducing or eliminating corrosion. Such protective cap reduces installation time as compared to removing tape and tape residue from each pipe end. The unique marker can indicate the purpose and identity of each underlying pipe or tube. Such protective cap also improves the visibility of the pipe ends during construction thereby increasing the safety of a job or construction site.
Abstract:
A junction device for ducts and pipelines is described, made up of an internally hollow main body manufactured with a plastic material obtained through molding. The main body being provided with connection means configured for connecting and for sealingly fixing the junction device to one or more pipelines and/or to one or more apparatuses to which such pipelines must be connected. The junction device comprises at least one plate in plastic material, molded in a single piece with the main body. On at least one of the two opposite surfaces of such a plate being imprinted information relative to the junction device, like for example one or more identifier codes or barcodes, a description of the junction device itself, brands and/or logos of any kind.
Abstract:
A coupler and plug system for air line uses which identifies properly mating components by the colors of the components. The coupler of the system includes a sleeve which is made in a chosen color. The plug of the system is made in the same color as the sleeve of the coupler. The plug and coupler sleeve may be anodized aluminum dyed in the same color. By choosing a plug which is of a matching color to the sleeve of a coupler, the user will choose a plug which properly mates with the coupler.
Abstract:
A fire hose coupling, such as a quarter-turn Storz-style coupling, comprises a substantially annular body having a first end connected to a fire hose and a second end having internal engagement lugs for connecting to lugs on another coupling. The coupling includes at least one locking lever movable between an unlocked position and a locked position, the lever locking the annular body of the coupling to the other coupling. The one or more locking levers comprise a light-reflecting surface to improve visibility of the lever. This facilitates assembly and disassembly of the couplings in conditions of poor visibility.
