Abstract: The present invention provides an improved fuel injection system and related method for controlling fuel heating and circulation in diesel type engines configured to use carbonaceous aqueous slurry fuels. The fuel injection system comprises: at least one fuel injector including an injector nozzle through which fuel is atomised and a fuel injector pump for pressurising fuel for supply to the injector nozzle; and a controlled bleed valve fluidly connected to each fuel injector and positioned to allow a controlled amount of carbonaceous aqueous slurry fuel to flow from the fuel injector.

Abstract: A process for preparing a polymeric membrane for materials used in crop production comprising: a) providing an aqueous dispersion of a polyurethane or polyurethane-urea elastomer comprising segments formed from the copolymer segment of Formula I A1-[Y1]n-L-[Y2]q-A2 Formula I wherein A1 is an end capping group; A2 is hydrogen or an end capping group; each [Y1]n and [Y2]q is independently selected from a polyether macrodiol, polycarbonate macrodiol, polyester macrodiol, and wherein at least one of [Y1]n and [Y2]q is a polyester macrodiol; L is a divalent linking compound independently selected from urethane, urea, carbonate, ester, and phosphonate; n is an integer of 2 to 50; q is an integer of 2 to 50; and b) spraying the aqueous dispersion onto materials to be used in crop production to form a polymeric membrane on the materials.

Abstract: A method of generating electricity from an amine-based acid gas capture process using an electrolytic cell containing an anode and a cathode and an amine based electrolyte comprising: contacting a metal based redox material with an amine based electrolyte in the presence of an anode to form a metal-ammine complex in solution; adding an absorbed or absorbable acid gas to the metal-ammine complex containing electrolyte to form an acid gas absorbed electrolyte; and contacting the acid gas absorbed electrolyte with a cathode deposit, wherein the acid gas breaks up the metal-ammine complex in the metal-ammine complex containing electrolyte thereby generating a potential difference between the anode and the cathode.

Abstract: Some embodiments relate to an apparatus for holding a workpiece under tension while one or more operations are performed on the workpiece, the apparatus comprising: a frame; a first spindle rotatably coupled to the frame; a first coupler configured to couple the first spindle to a first end of the workpiece; a second spindle rotatably coupled to the frame; and a second coupler configured to couple the second spindle to a second end of the workpiece; wherein a distance between the first and second couplers is adjustable to hold the workpiece under tension between the couplers while the one or more operations are performed, and wherein the workpiece can be rotated with the couplers relative to the frame about a common axis of rotation extending between the couplers. Some embodiments relate to a system comprising a controller for controlling rotation of the workpiece. Embodiments also relate to processes comprising holding a workpiece under tension while performing one or more operations on the workpiece. Some of the processes, systems and apparatuses described may be particularly useful for cold spraying delicate workpieces such as 3D printed static mixers.

Abstract: A composite lay up tool comprising a metal faceplate (12) on a support member (13), wherein the faceplate has been formed by cold-gas dynamic spraying of particles of the metal onto a substrate and wherein the support member is compatible with the faceplate and comprises a casting of a ceramic composition. A process for forming the tool is disclosed. In one aspect, a castable ceramic composition comprises a binder and an aggregate component mixable with water to form a slurry ready for casting, wherein the aggregate component is one of, or a mixture of, fused silica and a particulate metal alloy, and the binder and aggregate component are present in the proportions 10-50 wt % and 90-50 wt % based on the dry weight of the composition. Also disclosed is a process for producing a faceplate for a lay up tool, which process comprises cold-gas dynamic spraying of particles of a nickel-iron alloy onto a substrate to form a faceplate of the nickel-iron alloy on the substrate, the faceplate being of a thickness in the range 2 to 10 mm. Further disclosed is a process for depositing a metal on a faceplate of a lay up tool in which the faceplate is formed of a nickel-iron alloy, which process comprises preparing an area of a surface of the faceplate to effect cleaning and conditioning of the area to accept and adhere to cold-gas dynamic sprayed particles, and cold-gas dynamic spraying particles of the metal onto the cleaned and conditioned area, wherein the metal is a nickel-iron alloy selected to be compatible with the faceplate.
