Abstract:
The invention is an easy to open package, in particular a package of the kind comprising two blanks of a sheet material (101) joined along the edges, thereby constituting one or more enclosed compartments (102) e.g. for a medical utensil, such as a urinary catheter. The edge joint comprises at least one peeling zone (18) permitting separation of the two foil walls and at least one foil sheet comprises or defines gripping means to enable a firm grip, such as a tear-open flap (12), a gripping string (499) or a flap with a finger-size hole (11). The package may further comprise means for one-hand opening, e.g. an adhesive element (2299) for bonding the package to exterior objects.
Abstract:
A device for locating and marking the optimum position of the centre of a hole for receiving a stoma in a stomal hernia support, said device being in the form of a dome-like structure having a flange-like part at the rim and an indication of the centre of the top of the dome, wherein the indication is detectable through the material of the hernial support and wherein the dome has a cavity volume capable of accommodating the stoma in question, provides a simple device for an easy determination and marking of the site for providing a customised hole in a standard hernia support for enabling a free flow of effluents from a stoma to pass the hernia support without compromising the hernia supporting properties thereof.
Abstract:
A probe comprising a shaft having proximal and distal ends, the shaft having a liquid supply duct therethrough for supplying irrigation liquid to an outlet adjacent said distal end. and expandable means on the shaft adjacent said outlet, the expandable means comprises a flexible expandable enclosure (14) with a liquid absorbent material (20) therein which expands when contacted with a liquid. wherein rupture means (23) are provided on the ex- pandable enclosure (14) which are operable to puncture the enclosure (14) and allow the contents (20) thereof to disperse to the exterior of the enclosure (14) and thereby collapse said enclosure.
Abstract:
The present invention is a kit for preparing a medical catheter from catheter sections which are short relative to the length of the catheter. The catheter is divided into two or more sections configurable into two configurations. In one configuration, the sections are joined to form a catheter of a greater length than the length of each individual section. In the other configuration, the length of the catheter is reduced. The invention also relates to a method of producing a catheter section by injection moulding.
Abstract:
The present invention as a bag for collecting boidily fluids such as urine. The bag is adapted for use e.g. in connection with a catheter and is provided with supporting means allowing handling of a liquid-filled bag without squeezing the bag and thus without the risk of contaminating the surroundings. The bag is provided with a draining spout allowing the liquid-filled bag to be emptied without spillage.
Abstract:
A disposable ostomy receiving bag comprising front and rear walls sealed together along the rim thereof and having a top end and a bottom end wherein the top end of the rear wall is provided with an inlet opening, wherein the receiving bag is provided with a further cover of a sheet material covering one or both surfaces thereof wherein the cover sheet at at least one of the surfaces is provided with a cut defining a part of the cover which only covers a part of the corresponding wall and is only secured to the wall along the part of the rim being superimposed on the sealed rim of the front and rear walls. This folding reduces the size of the bag and keeps the folded end discreetly hidden under the cover sheet and thus ensures discretion. Furthermore, it allows for an easy enlargement of the active volume of the bag simply by withdrawing the end of the bag from under the cover sheet, should a larger collecting volume suddenly be needed in situations where there is difficult or no access to a rest room.
Abstract:
An adhesive agent for application to human or animal skin, preferably for use in connection with ostomy or incontinence appliances, comprises a pressure sensitive adhesive and optionally additives conventionally used in adhesives of this kind and parts of or extracts from Aloe vera. Such adhesive prevents or alleviates skin problems.
Abstract:
A method for preparing a non-fibrous porous material essentially consisting of one or more hydrophilic polymers and/or pharmaceutical medicaments comprising forming an aqueous solution, sol or gel comprising one or more hydrophilic polymers and/or pharmaceutical medicaments, freezing the solution, sol or gel and extracting the frozen water selectively using a hydrophilic organic solvent being miscible with water at a temperature below 5 DEG C at which temperature the solvent is not able to dissolve the frozen solutes, leaving the non-fibrous material in a solid, porous form.
Abstract:
A collecting bag system for human body wastes comprising a collecting bag with a bag element formed by two predeminantly oblong plastic film blanks with joined edges (1, 2) and with an inlet opening (3) surrounded by connecting elements (4) for connection to a body orifice, particularly a stoma, and a closeable outlet opening (5) in an end section of one plastic film blank (2). The outlet opening (5) is surrounded by a coupling ring (6) with an outwardly facing engagement flange (7), and the system further comprises a bag extension (21, 23) with a coupling ring (9) with a corresponding inward-facing engagement element (10) for dismountable, sealing coupling to the coupling ring (6) of the outlet opening (5). On the inside of the coupling ring (6) of the outlet opening (5) a closing membrane is placed with an annular coupling element (16) for a sealing, but releasable coupling with an inward-facing engagement element (18) on the coupling ring (6) of the outlet coupling (5).
Abstract:
A filter arrangement for a bag (1), in particular an ostomy bag with a vent (5), comprising a filter holder (7) fastened to the wall of the bag at the vent and having a through hole forming a passage from the interior of the bag to the surroundings, and a replaceable filter insert (8) designed for positioning in said hole. For position fixing of the filter insert in a use position, the filter holder has both means (13) for engagement with corresponding means (14) on the filter insert where the engagement means are designed such that upon positioning in the use position, the filter insert is prevented from being withdrawn from the filter holder, and within said engagement means has an elastically resilient clamping member (15) which in use position forms a sealing around the filter insert, but allows that this is pushed from the outside through the hole of the filter holder into the bag. The engagement means may be formed as an inwardly facing shoulder portion (13) in the filter holder (7) and a corresponding outwardly facing shoulder portion (14) on the filter insert (8). The filter insert has within said shoulder portion an internal conical end part with inwardly convergent cross section, and the elastically resilient clamping member (15) of the holder forms a sealing lip around said end part of the insert.
