Abstract:
Circular knit, elastic fabrics (10) of at least one of single jersey, French terry, and fleece are disclosed that include a bare elastomeric material (12) plated with spun and/or continuous filament hard yarns (14) . The circular knit, elastic fabrics of at least one of single jersey, French terry, and fleece are manufactured by a method that does not require a dry heat setting step. The method requires drafting the bare elastomeric material no more than about 2.5x its original length when knitting to form the circular knit, elastic fabrics of at least one of single jersey, French terry, and fleece.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a polyurethane elastic yarn which is excellent in elongation, resilience, heat resistance, alkali resistance, chemical resistance, and capability of being dyed with a cationic dye and which is suitable for use in a stretch cloth, a wearing apparel or the like. The polyurethane elastic yarn comprises: an clastic yarn comprising a polyurethane mainly composed of a polymer diol and a diisocyanate, and a polymer of a compound having a sulfonate group contained in the elastic yarn.
Abstract:
A polymeric, phosphorus-containing composition made by heating, in the presence of an initiator, preferably a free radical initiator, and optionally in the presence of one or more comonomers, at least one ethylenically substituted phosphonylated 2,2'-dihydroxyl-1,1'-binaphthalene or at least one ethylenically substituted 2,2'-dihydroxyl-1,1'-biphenylene. These polymers may be combined with a group VIII metal to form catalysts for hydrocyanation, hydroformylation or unsaturated nitrile isomerization.
Abstract:
Briefly described, embodiments of this disclosure include multi- package buckets, yarn twisting or cabling apparatus including, methods of twisting or cabling yarn, and the like.
Abstract:
An improved process for the hydrolysis of nylon polymer is herein disclosed using ionic liquids and optionally one equivalent of sulfuric acid per amide residue of the polymer. The process provides for a simplified means for separation of the hydrolyzed polyamide constituent monomers.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the manufacture of alkyl p -toluates from an alkyl p -toluic acid ester and a mono-functional, branched, linear or cyclic medium chain length alkyl alcohol, and their use as a plasticizer in polymers. Additionally, the present invention relates to articles and materials comprising such alkyl p -toluates.
Abstract:
Dyed yarns typically have inferior color fastness compared with pigmented yarns. However, dyeing offers a virtually infinite selection of colors, flexibility and more uniformity than constructions of pigmented yarns in residential carpet and other yarn applications, such as apparel. It has been found that relatively small amounts of pigment (10 to 1000 ppm) incorporated into polymeric fibers, and particularly nylon fibers used in carpets, creates lightly pigmented yarns which, when overdyed, are highly uniform and have a higher degree of apparent dye light fastness compared to normal dyed yarns. This effect is observable for both anionic and cationic polyamide polymers, and dyeing of these slightly pigmented yarns can be conducted to produce yarns of almost any color of greater depth than the base yarn.
Abstract:
Included is a spinning cell for a synthetic fiber such as spandex. The spinning cell includes a top closure which reduces or eliminates solvent vapor transfer, where solvent vapor process gas(es) may leave the cell and room air may be introduced into the spinning cell. A bottom closure device may also be included.
