Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device for orienting a substantially spherical object having an external characteristic suitable for orientation, such as bulbous plant, pepper, apple or cabbage, comprising: - a frame, - at least three drivable rotation members (1, 2, 3) arranged in the frame, -drive means (4, 5, 6) for driving the rotation members, and - an orientaion determining system (7) for determining the orientaion of the spherical object.
Abstract:
A plastic conveyor belt module (10) with a unitary sideguard (26). The sideguard (26) extends upward perpendicularly from the top conveying surface (14) of a plastic module body (12). The sideguard (26) extends longitudinally along the conveying surface (14) with a leading edge (28) laterally offset from a trailing edge (29). Wedge-shaped indentations (38, 39) formed at the leading and trailing edges (28, 29) allow the sideguards (26) of leading and trailing belt modules (10) in a conveyor belt (47) to mesh and to overlap without interference as the belt (47) backflexes.
Abstract:
A handling device includes a gripping member (2) and a support structure (16) that supports the gripping member. The gripping member (2) includes a flexible, substantially toroidal wall member (10) having an outer wall portion (10b) and an inner wall portion (10a) that defines an axial passageway (12) through the gripping member. A fluid fills the volume enclosed by the wall member (10). The support structure (16) includes a drive mechanism (18, 20) that engages the wall member (10) and is constructed and arranged to provide relative axial movement between the inner and outer wall portions (10a, 10b).
Abstract:
The application refers to a positioning device for orienting products such as foodstuffs, comprising: holder means for containing at least one product for positioning; and drive means for moving the holder means between a loading/unloading position. The application also refers to a separating device for isolating separated products from a quantity of products such as for instance foodstuffs, comprising: a rotatable disc provided with at least one hole; a wheel placed at short distance partially above the disc with at least one recess in the edge of the wheel; and drive means for causing the disc and the wheel to rotate.
Abstract:
A device for transporting objects (12, 21) in an orderly manner, said objects being delivered by feed means (11). The device includes a first moving conveyor belt (13, 22) for conveying the objects from a receiving area to a discharge area, and an assembly (15, 23) for guiding and/or supporting said objects, said assembly being substantially parallel to the first conveyor belt (13, 22) at least in the region of said receiving area, and the spacing between the first conveyor belt and the guide assembly being substantially equal to one dimension of the objects. The guide assembly may be a second moving conveyor belt (15) or a guiding and supporting drum (23).
Abstract:
A conveying system (10) for foodstuffs comprising a first conveyor (11) and a second conveyor (12) placed side by side with the end of the first conveyor overlapping the start of the second conveyor, the overlapping portions of the conveyors being in close proximity to define a transfer zone (25), each conveyor having a plurality of foodstuff support means adapted each to support a single piece of foodstuff, and means to tilt the foodstuff support means of the first conveyor to cause the foodstuff to roll from the support means of the first conveyor to the support means of the second conveyor. The first conveyor (11) including a photographic zone and the second conveyor including a weighing zone and multiple ejection zones.
Abstract:
A "fruit cup" (1) which is shaped to receive articles, for example single pieces of fruit or produce such as apples. The articles rest in a space on a support between the back plate (7) of a "U" shaped bracket and a rotatable bow-tie roller (2) positioned between the arms (4, 5) of the bracket. The support sits on a mounting to which it is coupled while being allowed limited relative movement therebetween. The relative movement between the support and the mounting allows the support to be tilted, lifting the roller (2), enabling it to be rotated to ensure that the "fruit cup" (1) contains only one article. The support is also able to be tipped to either side, to discharge the article contained therein, and to later be repositioned atop the mounting. In use, the base (13, 14) of the mounting is attached to an endless chain conveyor so that a number of "fruit cups" form an endless circuit in an article grading/packaging/sorting system which may have a number of adjacent circuits.
Abstract:
An object sorting apparatus has a singulation section, a sorting section, and a transfer section for transitioning objects, such as fruit, to be sorted to a conveyor which deposits the objects into appropriate collection bins. Objects for sorting are transported on an endless conveyor or wheels through the singulation and sorting section. A first independently adjustable speed belt in the singulation section rotates in a direction opposite that of the flow of items from the singulation section to the sorter section, to assist in singulation. A second adjustable speed belt rotates in the same direction as the wheels and operates to provide a view of each of four sides of the object to an imaging device. The imaging device supplies signals representing a desired sorting parameter to a processor which evaluates the measured parameters and generates signals so that the objects are ultimately deposited in appropriate sorting bins. An object holder receives an object as it is about to be transferred onto a second conveyor for transport to the collection bins. The object holder, which is attached to the wheels, acts to extend the lateral distance of the object beyond the return location of the endless conveyor. This minimizes the downward distance and direction the object travels before it is captured by a transport cup on the second conveyor, thus reducing damage to the objects, such as bruising of fruit. A rotatable transfer roll is positioned between the conveyors to restrict vertical travel and impart lateral motion to the objects as they leave the object holder. The transfer is preferably padded to further reduce the risk of bruising the fruit.
