Abstract: A method of manufacturing an article includes melt-mixing a first polymer with a second polymer and optionally an additive to form a thermoplastic composition, the first polymer having a first melting point or a first glass transition temperature T1, the second polymer having a second melting point or a second glass transition temperature T2 that is 30° C. to 150° C. higher than T1: and forming the article from the thermoplastic composition at a temperature between T1 and T2, such as via sheet extrusion, thermoforming, pipe extrusion, extrusion molding, injection molding, extrusion molding, blow molding, compression molding, or additive manufacturing. The first polymer and the second polymer can have a volume ratio of 75:25 to 35:65 with a co-continuous morphology in the thermoplastic composition, with the second polymer providing a network for containing a melt of the first polymer.

Abstract: A method and composition of making polymer products from thermoplastic polymers by melt processing. Cross-linked polyethylene are mixed with at least one thermoplastic matrix polymer to form a polymer composition which is melt-processed. The cross-linked polyethylene is formed by a finely divided powder with particles having a screened size of less than 600 μm and a D50 of 200 to 400 μm. Cross-linked polyolefin can be used in a cost-effective and simple manner so that products generally considered a waste, such as scrapped cross-linked polyethylene pipes or unused cross-linked polyethylene discarded in e.g. pipe making processes, can be recycled and used as a starting material for polymer products.

Abstract: Provision of inorganic powders with reduced hazard: acid chlorides which have use in polymer production can be incorporated into a masterbatch with the addition of a silane compound to reduce the corrosiveness of the masterbatch pellets and reduce variability of pellet size. This presents advantages in transport and handling costs and facilitates downstream processing.

Abstract: A polymeric material having anisotropic properties, such as mechanical properties (e.g., modulus of elasticity), thermal properties, barrier properties (e.g., breathability), and so forth, is provided. The anisotropic properties can be achieved for a single, monolithic polymeric material through selective control over the manner in which the material is formed. For example, one or more zones of the polymeric material can be strained to create a unique network of pores within the strained zone(s). However, zones of the polymeric material that are not subjected to the same degree of deformational strain will not have the same pore volume, and in some cases, may even lack a porous network altogether.
