Polymers are infused with carbonates, such as alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salts of carbonate, bicarbonate and sesquicarbonate, alone or in combination. The carbonates are soluble, soft, and have been infused within the polymeric material in a sufficient amount to provide an alkaline aqueous environment to inhibit microbes when the polymeric material is contacted with water.

The invention is based on the recognition that known antimicrobial compounds, such as nisin or other lantibiotics, can be made to form a long lasting antimicrobial surface coating by linking the peptide with a block polymer, such as PLURONIC? F108 or an end group activated polymer (EGAP) in a manner to form a flexible tether and/or entrap the peptide. The entrapped peptide provides antimicrobial action by early release from entrapment while the tethered peptide provides longer lasting antimicrobial protection. Antimicrobial gels and foams may be prepared using the antimicrobial peptide containing block copolymers.

Reinforced copolymers formed from a functionalized copolymer that undergoes a reactive extrusion process with an inorganic component to form the reinforced copolymer. The functionalized copolymer in the form of a block and/or graft copolymer includes hard segments and soft segments, where the soft segments are covalently bonded with a coupling agent either before or after copolymerization with the hard segments. The reinforced copolymer of the present disclosure can be suitable for use as a biomaterial and/or in medical devices.

A nontoxic micro anti-bacterial film coated with silver nano-particles and a method of manufacturing the same are disclosed. The method of manufacturing a non-toxic micro anti-bacterial film coated with silver nano- particles including the steps of: producing mixed/combined powers as anti- bacterial powders, thermosensitive or photosensitive ink capsule powers, and fragrant capsule powders, and silver nano powder are combined with an additive; producing solid powders as 20~50weight % of the mixed/combined powders, and 50~80weight% of olefin, acrylic or urethane binder are mixed and then disperse; producing a paste type of print ink as 30weight% of the solid powders and 70weight% of solvent are mixed; and printing the print ink on a thin film made of olefin resin, acrylic resin, and urethane resin, using a silk screen printing method, printing a predetermined design thereon. The designs of the non-toxic micro ant i -bacterial film can be pressed and transferred to the stationery products or the necessaries of life. Therefore, users can obtain joy and interest from the products as designs are changed according to temperature change. Also, the non-toxic micro anti- bacterial film exhales fragrance and has anti-bacterial operation.

Die Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung von mit Fluorsilanen oder -siloxanen hydrophobierten Mikropartikeln zur Herstellung von Oberflächen, die selbstreinigende sowie laktophobe, oleophobe und lipophobe Eigenschaften aufweisen. Durch die Verwendung von mit Fluorsilanen hydrophobierten Mikropartikeln in den bekannten Verfahren zur Herstellung von selbstreinigenden Oberflächen lassen sich Oberflächen herstellen, die neben selbstreinigenden Eigenschaften auch lipophobe, oleophobe und laktophobe Eigenschaften aufweisen. Mit solchen Oberflächen ausgerüstete Gegenstände sind insbesondere leicht von öl-, fett- oder milchhaltigen Verschmutzungen leicht zu reinigen. Die erfindungsgemäße Verwendung ist deshalb insbesondere zur Herstellung von technischen Textilien, Arbeitsbekleidung und Kinderbekleidung geeignet.
