Die Erfindung betrifft einen textilen Faden mit einer Seele und die Seele umgebenden Multifilamentgarnen, wobei hochfeste Multifilamentgarne aus organischen Synthesefasern mit einer Feinheitsreißfestigkeit von mindestens 3 cN/dtex und einer Reißdehnung kleiner 22 % zur Ausbildung eines textilen Fadens mit einer der Reißfestigkeit der Multifilamentgarne entsprechenden Reißfestigkeit eingesetzt sind und zur Erhöhung der Dehnbarkeit des textilen Fadens bei Erhalt der Reißfestigkeit desselben eine gummielastische Seele aus einem Monofil aus einem Thermoplastischen Elastomer mit einer Reißdehnung von mindestens 35 % vorgesehen ist, welche von mindestens je einem der Multifilamentgarne in S-Richtung und/oder Z-Richtung umzwirnt ist, sowie textile Flächengebilde und Körpergebilde hieraus.

A nonwoven fabric is provided for a primary carpet backing comprising a bicomponent filament of polymeric core/sheath-type, the polymeric core component of which has a higher melting point than the polymeric sheath component, said bicomponent filaments are bonded together by the application of heat to form said fabric, characterized in that the polymeric sheath component is selected from the group containing polypropylene and copolymers comprising polypropylene and/or blends thereof. The invention is further directed to a process of manufacturing such nonwoven fabrics and to articles, such as car carpets, comprising them.

Fibres 10 comprise discrete regions of polypropylene 18 that are surrounded by polyethylene 20. The fibres are connected together by heating the fibres such that as the melting point of the polyethylene is approached or reached or passed the abutting surfaces of the fibres soften and adhere together to become integral. Heating of the fibres causes shrinkage of the fibres such that a fabric formed from such fibres shrinks to pull the fibres together on heating. The fibres relax after their initial contraction to lose a lot of the tension that caused the fibres in the fabric to be drawn in.

A carpet material for a floor carpet to be used in a passenger compartment of an automotive vehicle. The carpet material comprises a pile layer formed of nonwoven fabric and serving as a skin. A base fabric layer is provided for supporting the pile layer and is formed of nonwoven fabric and integral with the pile layer. A backing layer is located at the opposite side of the base fabric with respect to the pile layer. The backing layer is formed of nonwoven fabric and integral with the base fabric layer. The nonwoven fabric forming the backing layer has a surface density ranging from 100 to 1000 g/m 2 and is formed of polyester-based fiber having a diameter ranging from 20 to 130 µm.

A low-stretch and dimensionally stable floor covering (1) comprising polymer-containing pile material (2) which is retained to a polymer-containing primary backing (3), to the back of which an underlying secondary backing layer (5) is retained by means of an interleafing adhesive layer (4). The secondary backing layer (5) comprises a needled fibre structure of thermoplastic, polymer-containing, continuous or staple fibres being inter-fixated by heating. The adhesive layer (4) comprises an organic, polymer-containing binder which is activated by heat application. According to the invention, at least the secondary backing layer and/or the binder layer comprise a substantially re-usable material. After being formed, the carpet is wound onto so-called broadloom rollers and can, if desired, be cut partially into carpet tiles. Thus, carpet tiles and broadloom carpets can be manufactured in the same production process.
