Abstract: A DMB processing apparatus and method for improving image quality are provided to improve the brightness, saturation, and quantizing error of a video signal in consideration of CPU(Central Processing Unit) performance if the DMB processing apparatus has a greater display unit than 2 inches even when a low-resolution DMB signal optimized to the 2-inch display unit is received, thereby providing DMB broadcasting of improved image quality. A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) processing method comprises the following steps of: selecting a preselected channel out of multi-channel DMB broadcasting and outputting the TS(Transport Stream) of the selected channel to a multiplexer(S410); dividing the input TS into an audio signal and a video signal and outputting the audio signal and the video signal to a video processor and an audio processor respectively(S420); processing the divided audio signal into an audible signal and outputting the processed signal to a speaker(S430); decoding the divided video signal(S440); adjusting the brightness distribution of the decoded video signal to adjust the brightness of a DMB video signal(S450); adjusting the saturation of the video signal(S460); dispersing noise set to the adjusted video signal to output a final video signal of which the quantizing error is reduced(S470); scaling the final video signal in resolution set to a display unit and converting the YUV of the scaled video signal into RGB(Red, Green, and Blue) color coordinates(S480); and displaying the video signal of DMB broadcasting of which the image quality is improved and is scaled(S490).
