Abstract:
An aqueous based functional system contains a stable fluid polymer suspension (FPS) thickening agent of a polysaccharide, polyethylene glycol (PEG), and hydrated thickening silica. The functional systems may be formulations of personal care excluding oral care, household care, oil field servicing fluids, Civil Engineering servicing fluids, paper coatings, construction fluids, ceramic glazes, foods, firefighting retardants, mineral processing, aqueous based coatings, building materials, construction, pharmaceuticals, medical care, paper making process, and paper coating. The FPS provides to the functional system comparable or better rheology and viscosity properties as compared to when using similar thickening agents in dry, solid form. A method of preparing the aqueous based functional system is also provided by adding a sufficient amount of a stable FPS that is compatible with the functional system to the system to thicken the functional system.

A perfluoropolyether, a composition comprising the perfluoropolyether, a process for producing the perfluoropolyether, and a process for improving the thermostability of grease or lubricant are provided. The perfluoropolyether comprises (1) perfluoroalkyl radical end groups in which the radical has at least 3 carbon atoms per radical and is substantially free of perfluoromethyl and perfluoroethyl end groups or (2) at least one bromine or iodine atom at the primary position of the perfluoropolyether.

The present invention relates to a method of lubricating the interface between a supporting ring (3, 103) and inner surface (55) of a tire (50) for use with a rim (121) for a tire (50) having two beads (53), comprising the step of providing a lubricant (2, 102) on a surface (1, 101) of said supporting ring (3, 103), said lubricant (2, 102) comprising at least 60 percent by weight of polydimethylsiloxane, from 7 to 13 weight percent of amorphous silica, and from 7 to 13 weight percent of hydroxy-terminated dimethyl siloxane. It also relates to a supporting ring (3, 103) with a surface (1, 101) provided with such a lubricant (2, 102), a tire (50) with an inner surface (55) provided with such a lubricant (2, 102), and a tire/rim assembly with an interface between a supporting ring (3, 103) and an inner surface (55) of the tire (50) wherein the interface is provided with such a lubricant.

A grease-like silicone composition comprising at least (A) a liquid organopolysiloxane comprising 80 to 96.5 mol% of siloxane units represented by the formula R 2 SiO 2/2 , 1.0 to 10.0 mol% of siloxane units represented by the formula RSiO 3/2 , and 0.25 to 10.0 mol% of siloxane units represented by the formula R 3 SiO 1/2 (in the formulas, R stands for identical or different monovalent hydrocarbon groups) and (B) a thickening agent is disclosed. A grease-like silicone composition can be provided that is capable of containing a large amount of thickening agents and possesses superior heat resistance.

Im Fall des Hochtemperaturfetts wird ein Verdickungsmittel zugegeben.

The invention relates to a grease composition having a base oil and a thickener that includes hydrophilic metal oxide particles and one or more amines that contain one or more unsaturated C—C bonds and/or at least one OH group. The hydrophilic metal oxide particles have a BET specific surface area of at least 10 m2/g and at least 80% of the hydrophilic metal oxide particles have a particle size in the range of from 5 nm to 900 μm. The amount of the thickener is in the range of from 0.1-40% by weight, based on the total weight of the grease composition. The invention further relates to methods for manufacturing the grease composition, and the use of the grease composition for lubricating bearings, gears and couplings.
