Abstract:
An image processing apparatus includes a preview creating unit, a storage unit, and a display unit. The storage unit stores therein in advance a sample image. The display unit displays, prior to receipt of image data, an input screen that displays the sample image and independent setting items, among a plurality of setting items available for the image data, independent of contents of the image data. The creating unit creates a preview image based on setting specified with respect to any of the independent setting items for the sample image, and the display unit displays the preview image.
Abstract:
A design-to-ship enabled shipping device in a commercial printing environment and method for managing workflow for use with the same. The present invention provides a method, program product and system for managing workflow in a commercial printing environment including a designer location and a print service provider location, where the method comprises establishing a closed-loop communication link between the designer location and the print service provider location, creating a press ready file at the designer location using updated device configuration information received from the print service provider location via the closed-loop communication link, submitting the press ready file to the print service provider location via the closed-loop communication link, and receiving a printed output of the press ready file and shipping the printed output using an automated shipping device.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus is provided with a data retrieving unit that retrieves index image data and associating file information corresponding to files from a recording medium. The index image data and associating file information are allocated to a plurality of arrangement sections. The index image data and associating file information may be printed on a printing sheet in accordance with a predetermined layout. A judging unit is provided to judge whether the associating file information is less than or equal to a predetermined length. The associating file information which is longer than the predetermined length is normally printed incompletely so as to be printed within the arrangement section. A layout modifying unit is provided to modify the predetermined layout for the arrangement section if the associating file information is longer than the predetermined length so that the associating file information is printed completely on the printing sheet.
Abstract:
An additional data useful for the management of copies of a document for an image forming apparatus is embedded in a hard copy of the document. The additional data is embedded in an inherent image of a document as discrete dots arranged in a prescribed format. Preferably, the size of each of said discrete dots is not so large as to be recognized easily with naked eyes. The additional data can be embedded in unit of blocks. Further, the density of the discrete dots is different from the density adjacent to the discrete dots. The image data for embedding an additional data can be obtained by reading a document, or by receiving data sent from a computer or read from a floppy disk. An additional data embedded in a hard copy can be extracted from the image data on the hard copy. Further, the production of a copy according to the image data can be controlled according to the extracted additional data. For example, if the additional data means that the source of the hard copy is a secret document, the copying is allowed only for a legitimate user. An additional data is generated for each copy according to the extracted additional data for embedding it in a hard copy to identify each copy. The additional data generated for each copy are compiled and they are used to manage copies of various sources systematically and illegal copies can be traced easily. If the additional data received from a printer is not consistent with the additional data already stored, the printing may be prohibited. A transmitter for transmitting an additional data may be provided in-a document such as a book.
Abstract:
This invention provides a first communication apparatus, which makes a facsimile communication via a packet communication network and can describe different contents image header information each including a date, time, source information, destination information, and the like in image data having a predetermined number of pixels upon sending the image data to a plurality of destinations, and a communication method. This invention also provides a second communication apparatus which makes a facsimile communication via a packet communication network and has a first mode in which image header information such as a date, time, source information, destination information, and the like can be described in image data having a predetermined number of pixels and can send the image data, and a second mode in which image data having one of various resolutions and an indefinite number of pixels can be sent.
Abstract:
A facsimile server device that can append TTI information to facsimile data in various manners. The facsimile server device is connected to a plurality of data processing devices such as client PCs over LAN, and is adapted to send facsimile data to a designated remote communication device upon instructions from a data processing device. The facsimile server device includes CPU, a keyboard or mouse and a display to set TTI information. TTI information may contain information about recipient, sender, time and page. The facsimile server device stores the TTI in RAM. TTI information in a certain form may also be provided from a data processing device. The TTI information programmed in the facsimile server device or the TTI information sent from the data processing device is given priority and appended to the facsimile data.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a method that makes it easier to configure an image processing apparatus capable of reading an image and processing the image in accordance with settings information, the method including an identification step of identifying whether the read image is a document that carries settings information; and a setting step of setting the settings information, which is carried on the read image, if the read image has been identified as being a document carrying the settings information.
Abstract:
A method of embedding a printable medium is provided, and includes embedding the printable medium with one or more position codes. A method of reconstructing an image presentation system also is disclosed, and includes scanning portions of the image presentation system and orientating the portions according to one or more position codes embedded on the printable medium of the image presentation system.
