    Abstract: A process fluid temperature estimation system includes a sensor capsule having a temperature sensitive element disposed therein configured to sense an external surface of a process pipe. The process fluid temperature estimation system includes measurement circuitry coupled to the sensor capsule and configured to detect a characteristic of the at least one temperature sensitive element that varies with temperature and provide sensor capsule temperature information and a controller coupled to the measurement circuitry, the controller being configured to obtain a reference temperature and employ a heat transfer calculation with the reference temperature and the sensor capsule temperature information to generate an estimated process temperature output. The process fluid temperature estimation system includes a mounting assembly configured to mount the process fluid temperature estimation system to the external surface of the process pipe, wherein a portion of the mounting assembly is offset from the external surface of the process pipe.

The output analog circuitry has a transfer function and the filter has a transfer function.     Abstract: A microwave resonator flame ionization detector assembly includes a microwave resonator disposed proximate a flame to evaluate an ion concentration in a flame effluent. A resonant frequency of the microwave resonator is detected, and a reflection coefficient of the resonator is used to determine an electric permittivity of a material in which the resonator is immersed. The electric permittivity depends on an ion concentration proximal to the resonator, and the ion concentration is related to the concentration of hydrocarbons present in the flame.

    Abstract: A two-wire process variable transmitter for use in an industrial process includes a process variable sensor configured to sense a process variable of a process fluid of the industrial process. Output circuitry provides an output on a two-wire process control loop which is related to the sensed process variable. Terminal voltage measurement circuitry measures a voltage at terminals of the process variable transmitter. The terminal voltage is a voltage measured across an electrical connection of the two-wire process variable transmitter to the two-wire process control loop. A microprocessor performs loop diagnostics on the two-wire process control loop based upon a loop current and the measured terminal voltage. The microprocessor determines coefficients of a polynomial equation which relates loop current and terminal voltage during normal operation of the two-wire process variable transmitter and performs subsequent diagnostics based upon the coefficients of the polynomial.
