    Abstract: An aqueous emulsion-type release coating composition comprising (i) a product produced by reaction of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer represented by the formula (1): wherein the sum of n, m and m′ is an integer of 300-3,000, ratio of n/(n+m+m′) is 0.1-0.9, and ratio of m/(m+m′) is 0.9-1.0, with a C8-30 alkyl isocyanate, and (ii) a surface active agent which is a combination of a nonionic surface active agent having a hydrophilic-lyophilic balance (HLB) of not larger than 12, with an ionic surface active agent. The release coating composition is used as a release agent for a pressure sensitive adhesive tape or contact sheet.

    Abstract: A double-sided heat-sensitive adhesive sheet comprises a support provided with a release layer on one side thereof and heat-sensitive adhesive layers which are formed on both sides of the support and have sufficient adhesion to the support but can be easily peeled apart from the release layer, wherein the release layer and the heat-sensitive adhesive layer has at their interface a 180null peeling resistance of 10-30 g/50 mm in a peel test performed at a peeling speed of 500 mm/min. in an atmosphere of 20null C. and 65% RH. The adhesive sheet is interposed between each opposed pair of information-recorded faces of recording material having on one side at least two spaces for information-recording, and heat is applied to the resultant assembly to make a laminate. The laminate can have a size and weight suitable for mailing as a postcard, and can bear confidential information on the inside and be peeled apart when desired.

    Abstract: Pressure-sensitive adhesive material comprising a backing member, a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the front side thereof, and a release coat on the backside thereof comprising poly(amide acids), e.g., poly(N-fatty alkyl amide-acids) of the following recurring formula:

    WHEREIN A is a divalent organic radical containing from 2 to 15, preferably 2 to 6, carbon atoms, B is a tetravalent organic radical containing at least 4 carbon atoms, R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl radical containing about 1 to 30 carbon atoms and R2 is an alkyl radical containing about 12 to 30 carbon atoms. When R1 is hydrogen, also provided are the corresponding cyclized imide products and mixtures of the polyamides and polyimides. These poly(amide acids) are formed by the reaction of tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrides and fatty diamines.

A decorative sheet assembly comprises a decorative polymeric foil 11, a layer of pressuresensitive adhesive (12) and a releasable paperbased-liner (13), the liner being provided with a release coating (15) on the surface which contacts the adhesive, in which the decorated foil has a lower total hygroexpansion than the removably adhered liner, the exposed surface of the liner is provided with a substantially continuous moisture vapour retardant polymeric skin, and the adhesion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive to the liner and the constant stress modulus of the pressure-sensitive adhesive are chosen so that the assembly remains substantially flat when subjected to marked humidity change. The polymeric foil may be polymethyl methacrylate, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, a polyimide, a polycarbonate or biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate. The release coating is preferably a dimethylpolysiloxane cured through silanic hydrogen and the vapour retardant polymer may be a vinylidene chloride - acrylonitrile polymer, a polyester, polyethylene or ethyl cellulose. Suitable pressure sensitive adhesives are copolymers of 2-ethyl hexyl acrylate with acrylic acid, a phenol-formaldehyde resin modified copolymer of 2-ethyl butyl acrylate with acrylic acid, a copolymer of methyl iso-amylacrylate with fusel oil acrylate, a blend of butadiene-styrene rubber with natural rubber or a polyisobutylene.
