Abstract:
Lubricating solutions are used on conveying systems in the beverage industry during the filling of containers with dairy products or other beverages. Lubricating compositions of the present invention, especially those designed for use in heavy load bearing conveyors such as those in the dairy industry conveying systems for contained beverages, comprise at least the following components: a) an alkyl alkoxylated (e.g., ethoxylated or propoxylated, preferably ethoxylated) phosphate ester, b) a secondary alcohol alkoxylate, (with an optional aryl nulle.g., aromatic, such as phenolnull alkoxylated nulle.g., ethoxylated or propoxylatednull phosphate ester), c) an aromatic or linear quaternary ammonium antimicrobial agent, and d) a liquid carrier, such as water. These lubricating solutions are capable of providing good lubricity and antimicrobial activity over a prolonged time and under high stress and heavy loads.
Abstract:
A cleaning and lubricant formulation for use on spindles on cotton picker or harvesting machines that simultaneously cleans and lubricates the surface of the spindles. The formulation features a major proportion of water and amounts of unsaturated fatty acids, glycol ether and alcohol solvents, nonionic surfactant, amide cosurfactant, and polycarboxylic acid. An alkalizing agent is added to control the pH of the resulting formulation. The cleaning and lubricant formulation exhibits excellent cleaning and lubrication properties without utilizing petroleum oil that can contaminate cotton fields, water supplies or the harvested cotton.

Abstract:
A lubricant is provided for use in hot working such as cross-roll rolling of a seamless steel pipe. It effectively reduces the friction coefficient between the working tools and the material under the hot work, thus extending the lives of the tools. The lubricant contains: (A) from about 10 to about 60 wt % of alkali silicate; (B) from about 1 to about 20 wt % of silane coupling agent; (C) from about 0.1 to about 5.0 wt % of at least one kind of alkali compound selected from a group consisting of an alkali hydroxide, an alkali carbonate, an alkali borate and an alkali salt of mineral acid; and (D) from about 30 to about 70 wt % of water. Alternatively, the lubricant contains: (A) from about 10 to about 60 wt % of alkali silicate; (B) from about 1 to about 20 wt % of silane coupling agent; (C) from about 0.1 to about 5.0 wt % of at least one kind of alkali compound selected from a group consisting of an alkali hydroxide, an alkali carbonate, an alkali borate and an alkali salt of mineral acid; (D) from about 5 to about 50 wt % of water; (E) from about 10 to about 60 wt % of iron oxide; and (F) from about 0.1 to about 5.0 wt % of at least one additive selected from a group consisting of a dispersant and a thickening agent.

Abstract:
A lubricant composition including ethoxylated long chain primary alcohols and, preferably, boron compounds but excluding most other previously used organic lubricant materials gives superior results in tube pointing operations, especially with thick walled tubes, and is also useful for drawing operations, either subsequent to pointing or independently of pointing, where very high quality surface finishes are desired.
Abstract:
Alkaline diamine track lubricants for use with glass, aluminum and two-piece PET containers and other articles of manufacture are prepared from an admixture of an alkyl diamine and a water-soluble hydrotrope. The diamine lubricants are prepared without the neutralization thereof and have a corrosion inhibitor which is, preferably, a reducing agent and a biocide incorporated thereinto. A source of alkalinity may be employed, as well, to maintain the pH above 8.
