Abstract: A component assembly system and method, by which an optimum combination of components can be determined by using inspection information of each component. The system has: an inspection information reading section for reading first and second inspection information regarding assembling of first and second components; a component reserving section for reserving each component; a storing section for storing a relationship between the inspection information of each component and a reserve position of each component; a grouping section for providing at least one first and second groups respectively including the first and second components; a combination determining section for determining a combination of the first and second components on one-to-one correspondence, by using the first and second inspection information; and a component conveying device for conveying the first and second components corresponding to the determined combination from the component reserving section to an assembly device, by using the stored relationship.

Abstract: A device is provided for combining two or more separate components of an optical analysis system, to use common entrance and exit apertures for optical measurements across a measurement space such as a stack, combustion chamber, duct or pipeline, in such way that the optical paths from the respective light sources to detectors are substantially the same, enabling multiple optical measurements over a single optical path or closely aligned optical paths with equivalent ambient conditions such as temperature and pressure distribution and background substance concentrations. The device and a set of interconnectable devices forming a modular system are useful, for example, in absorption spectroscopy, such as for measuring the amount fraction of the chemical constituents of a fluid in a measurement volume.

Abstract: An efficient absorption spectroscopy system is provided. The spectroscopy system may be configured to measure solid, liquid or gaseous samples. Vacuum ultra-violet wavelengths may be utilized. Some of the disclosed techniques can be used for detecting the presence of trace concentrations of gaseous species. A preferable gas flow cell is disclosed. Some of the disclosed techniques may be used with a gas chromatography system so as to detect and identify species eluted from the column. Some of the disclosed techniques may be used in conjunction with an electrospray interface and a liquid chromatography system so as to detect and identify gas phase ions of macromolecules produced from solution. Some of the disclosed techniques may be used to characterize chemical reactions. Some of the disclosed techniques may be used in conjunction with an ultra short-path length sample cell to measure liquids.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are provided where fluid, such as a blood sample, is entered into a microfluidic channel in a microchip where the microfluidic channel possesses a micro/nanopillar array for sorting molecules by size. When the fluid passes through the micro/nanopillar array it is separated into particles of interest or particles not of interest or both. When particles of interest are lit by a light source via a first waveguide in the microchip connecting the light source to the microfluidic channel, then lighted particles of interest can be detected by an optical detector via a second waveguide in the microchip connecting the optical detector to the microfluidic channel. The information from the optical detector can be analyzed further by connecting the microchip to a mobile computing device with its own processing abilities or abilities via the internet or cloud.
