    Abstract: An arbitration diagnostic circuit and method provide diagnostic information in arbitration-based systems and/or provide detection of and response to excessive arbitration delays. For example, in one embodiment, an arbitration diagnostic circuit maintains a chronological memory trace of arbitration events, including resource request events and corresponding resource grant events for two or more entities having arbitrated access to a shared resource. The trace, which may be regarded as a running, ordered list, may comprise time-stamped event identifiers, which aid the analysis of arbitration related errors or failures. Indeed, in one or more embodiments, an arbitration diagnostic circuit is configured to track elapsed times for resource requests, and to detect resource grant delay violations. Delay violations can be logged, along with the other arbitration state information, and the arbitration diagnostic circuit can be configured to freeze systems or sub-systems responsive to detecting delay violations and/or to capture various state information.

    Abstract: Multi-media computer system diagnostic system for fault isolation in a multi-tasking hard, real-time task environment is described. Hard, real-time multi-tasking operations, particularly those unique to signal processing tasks may be monitored without creating a task processing overload and without delaying the results beyond hard, real-time task deadlines by insertion of a branch instruction in the task execution instructions being examined which cause execution of the task to branch to a diagnostic program. The diagnostic program executes a diagnostic instruction set and captures one or more digital samples characteristic of the operation of the hard, real-time task at the point in its program execution where the branch instruction was located. The digital data samples so obtained may be queued and graphically plotted on the screen of a display associated with the computer system to generate a graphical representation of the performance of the algorithm or signal processing task under examination in order to quickly isolate task malfunctions without having to review a mass of digital data samples. Alternatively, pre-selected samples may be injected into the task execution by loading task registers with predetermined data by executing a branch to a diagnostic function which inserts the samples.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically backing up application data and performing restoration as required are disclosed in the embodiments of the present invention, which relates to application data backup and restoration technology of a terminal system. The method includes: an application layer setting an application data directory of an application into a system constant according to a backup instruction; a bottom layer acquiring a directory permission of the application data directory through the application data directory in the system constant; the bottom layer setting a permission of the application data directory to read-write; and the application layer backing up the application data under the application data directory of which the permission has been set to read-write, to perform restoration as required by using a backed-up application data hereafter. In the embodiments of the present invention, the automatic backup and restoration as required can be performed on terminal applications such as games and so on, which improves the user experience.
