Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply constituted and compact hydrogen production apparatus.
SOLUTION: The apparatus is equipped with a compression chamber for a reactor 1 for holding the mixture of reactive particles and steam for shock compression. a feeder 14 which feeds the reactive particles to the compression chamber, an intermittent injection pump 5 which is connected with a steam well from which geothermally generated high pressure steam is taken out and intermittently feeds the high pressure steam to the compression chamber. The intermittent supply of the high pressure steam to the compression chamber with the intermittent injection pump 5 generates shock waves. The shock waves spread in the chamber and shock-compress the mixture in it. The mixture is heated to high temperatures, which causes the reactive particles in the mixture to react with the steam. A hydrogen-containing gas is generated.
