Abstract:
A thin tough glossy surface may be applied to a flexible substrate in a one step process comprising: applying an aqueous thin film of a compound of a polymer to an endless carrier belt made of a material having a low adhesion to said polymer, contacting the flexible substrate and coated carrier belt and keeping them together while they pass around a hot drum laminator at a temperature of from 100 to 150°C. The process is suitable for applying impermeable surfaces to non wovens, and foam backed carpet.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a precoat resin dispersion having a solids content from about 63% to about 69% characterized in that it contains (1) at least one resin material selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon resins prepared from petroleum refined streams, polyterpene resins and esters of rosin having a Ring and Ball softening point from about 60°C to about 100°C, which resin material is in an aqueous dispersion having a solids content from about 53% to about 58%; (2) at least one water-soluble polymer; (3) at least one cationic resin; and (4) water. The precoat resin dispersion is useful in the manufacture of tufted carpets, especially carpets manufactured with carboxylated latices as a backcoat.
Abstract:
A method for providing a textile product includes the steps of providing yarns, contacting the yarns with a support material to form an intermediate product and bonding the yarns to the support material to form the textile product, wherein the bonding takes place by providing a reactive nucleus precursor at a site where the yarns contact the support material, and converting the precursor into a compound having multiple reactive nuclei in the presence of a compound having multiple nucleophilic groups, as well as a textile product obtainable by the method, uses of that product and lignin for use in producing such a textile product.
Abstract:
A tufted carpet included a backing bonded to a tufted base with a layer of adhesive containing powder of a far-infrared radiating material. The adhesive layer not only prevents water on the upper surface of the carpet from penetrating through the carpet to the bottom of the carpet, but also warms the carpet so that the water can be evaporated.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a modular carpet tile with improved properties, in particular to a modular carpet tile with an integral resilient, non-woven backing and to a process for preparing a resilient, non-woven backing.
