PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultra-high molecular weight suture having distinguishable ends, and having a reduced glare.SOLUTION: A colored suture (10) includes an elongate woven braid of filaments including one or two or more ends (26, 28) made of an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). The suture also includes second and third ends which are colorable or dyeable before or after its incorporation into the elongate woven braid. This invention provides surgeons with improved recognition of suture ends in surgery by construction of a bi-colored or co-braided woven braid with at least two ends of mutually different color schemes or patterns braided into a UHMWPE construction. One of the colored ends runs continuously from one end of the suture to the other end. The other colored end is preferably colored only on one half of the end. This provides a suture with two distinguishable ends, while still maintaining a continuous line of color along the length of the suture.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact load alleviation rope which can absorb brief drop energy acting in drop sufficiently.SOLUTION: An impact load alleviation rope comprises an internal layer 11 formed by weaving or twisting of multiple strand 11a as a rope main body, and an external layer 12 coating the internal layer 11. A tension regulator member 13 having lower elongation than the internal layer 11 and the external layer 12 and cut when tensile load over a specified value is added while the internal layer 11 and the external layer 12 are extended by the tensile load is arranged between the internal layer 11 and the external layer 12.

The present invention provides a yarn comprising a composite yarn composed of a core part comprising a short fiber and a sheath part comprising a synthetic fiber filament yarn, the core part and the sheath part being integrated via fluff of the short fiber getting between or entangled with the long fibers, the specific gravity of the yarn being adjustable in the range of 1.0 or more, a fishing line comprising the yarn, and a method for producing the fishing line. The present invention provides an ideal fishing line which has a strong core-sheath structure, does not allow separation or detachment of the core part and the sheath part, is easy to handle, and also is excellent in strength, weatherability, and water resistance.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knotless cord capable of sufficiently exhibiting the tensile strength of a fibrous material. SOLUTION: This knotless cord 1 is equipped with a sleeve 2 and the fibrous material 3 inserted into the inside of the sleeve 2, and the sleeve 2 and the fibrous material 3 are joined by tightening the sleeve 2 by imparting a tension in the longitudinal direction of the sleeve 2. Also, the knotless cord 1 is provided with that a coming-out preventing part 4 is separated to at least 2 positions of coming out-preventing parts (a first coming out-preventing part 4a and a second coming-out preventing part 4b) so as to prevent the coming out of the fibrous material 3 from the sleeve 2. Thus, while preventing the coming out of the fibrous material 3 from the sleeve 2, the stress formed by imparting the tension is dispersed to the whole of the fibrous material 3 so as to moderate stress concentration at each of the coming out-preventing parts 4a, 4b. Abstract:
A hoisting member for an elevator system includes a core having strength components embedded in a matrix material. A coating can surround the core to protect the core and control the coefficient of friction of the outer surface based on a range of desired friction properties to prevent or inhibit slippage of the hoisting member when used in a traction elevator system. The strength components may be made from carbon nanotube material with the matrix material made from a polymer material. The hoisting member may also include other conductive material or fiber optic material. The hoisting member may also serve as the trailing cable in an elevator system. In doing so the hosting member transmits power and data between the elevator car and the elevator controller thereby eliminating the need for a traditional trailing cable.

The present disclosure provides a method for producing a rope (35) that is useful for forming mesh in pelagic trawls, that is stronger for a given amount of material, has lesser drag, is capable of exhibiting same or bettered lift when subjected to water flow at trawl mesh angles of attack, while also being less costly to manufacture, in comparison to known helix rope constructions. Most broadly the method and apparatus of the present disclosure include a standard braiding apparatus (11) where an additional planetary carrier apparatus orbits about the outside of the usual planetary carrier apparatus, at a same or similar height as the usual planetary carrier apparatus, at a lower speed than the usual planetary carrier apparatus, and preferably carrying less bobbins (19) than the usual planetary carrier apparatus.
