    Abstract: A differential pressure transmitter configured to provide an absolute pressure measurement is presented. The differential pressure sensor comprises a first process fluid inlet. The differential pressure sensor also comprises a second process fluid inlet. The differential pressure sensor also comprises a differential pressure sensor operably coupled to the first and second process fluid inlets. The differential pressure sensor also comprises an absolute pressure cap coupled to the second pressure inlet. The cap comprises a volume of gas within an expansion feature. The volume of gas has a reference pressure. The expansion feature is configured to allow for expansion of the volume of gas in response to a temperature increase, such that the volume of gas maintains the reference pressure.

    Abstract: A diagnostic field device for detecting a condition of a process conduit includes an infrared detector comprising a plurality of pixels configured to receive infrared radiation from the process conduit and responsively provide a plurality of pixel outputs. A first pixel of the plurality of pixels is configured to receive infrared radiation from a first location on the process conduit. A second pixel of the plurality of pixels is configured to receive infrared radiation from a second location on the process conduit. A memory contains thermal profile information which relates an output from the first pixel to a first temperature at the first location and relates an output from the second pixel to a second temperature at the second location. A microprocessor identifies a process anomaly based upon outputs from the first and second pixels. Output circuitry provides a diagnostic output indicative of the identified process anomaly.

    Abstract: A steam quality meter includes a pipe with an inlet and an outlet. A rod is located within the pipe between the inlet and the outlet. The rod defines an annular flow passage between an outer wall of the rod and an inner wall of the pipe. A mixing device is located within the pipe between the inlet and an upstream end of the rod. Spaced sensors are located within the annular flow passage. Each sensor is configured to sense capacitance and/or impedance of steam flowing through the annular flow passage.

    Abstract: A magnetic flowmeter includes flowmeter electronics and a flowtube configured to receive process fluid flow. The flowtube has a plurality of electrodes disposed proximate an inner diameter to contact process fluid. At least one ultrasonic transducer is disposed within the flowtube and is configured to couple ultrasonic energy to the process fluid proximate at least one electrode. Flowmeter electronics are coupled to the plurality of electrodes and the at least one ultrasonic transducer and are configured to detect at least partial electrode coating or buildup and responsively generate a cleaning cycle within the flowtube using the at least one ultrasonic transducer.
