Abstract:
A method for subscribing a service and distributing encryption key based on public-key encryption algorithm in a digital CATV system are disclosed. In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method including the steps of: a) generating a charged service application message; b) generating a session connection request message, signing based on a digital signature scheme with appendix on the session connection request message and transmitting to the head-end; c) generating a symmetric-based session key, signing a digital signature on the key, encrypting based on a public-key of the subscriber, transmitting the session key to the subscriber; decrypting the session key message, verifying the digital signature, extracting the session key from the session key message and storing at a Condition Access Module; and d) signing a digital signature on the charged service request message, encrypting using the extracted session key and transmitting to the head-end.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A conditional access system of a digital cable broadcasting system and a receiving system and method using the conditional access system are provided to conditionally receive broadcast using DVS-167 or DOCSIS as an out-of-band channel transmission method. CONSTITUTION: A conditional access system includes a demultiplexer(322), an out-of-band channel signal processor(323), a conditional access processor(325), and a multiplexer(321). The demultiplexer receives broadcast data transmitted through an in-band channel and an ECM(Entitlement Control Message) including a control word from a subscriber receiver(310) and demultiplexes the broadcast data and the ECM. The out-of-band channel signal processor receives an EMM(Entitlement Management Message) transmitted through an out-of-band channel from the subscriber receiver and processes the EMM. The conditional access processor descrambles scrambled broadcast data using the EMC and EMM. The multiplexer multiplexes the descrambled broadcast data and provides the multiplexed broadcast data to the subscriber receiver.

PURPOSE: A method for converting an EMM(Entitlement Management Message) in a CAS(Conditional Access System) with a PKI(Public Key Infrastructure) is provided to solve problems of a CAS with a symmetric key scheme. CONSTITUTION: A CAS(207) connects to a subscriber management system(206), reads each subscriber information from a database through the subscriber management system(206), and transmits subscriber information to a CA(Certificate Authority) server(202) according to a certificate policy. The CAS(207) transmits a certificate request form including a public key of electronic signature keys stored in the database to the CA server(202). The subscriber management system(206) records a certificate issued from the CA server(202) and a subscriber's private key stored in the database in a conditional access module through a recording device(204).

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for processing transport streams (TSs) and a delay-controlling apparatus that assigns a predetermined delay to MPEG-2 TS packets fed into a POD module in a digital cable broadcasting system, irrespective of a time delay caused by descrambling scrambled input TS packets, the apparatus including: a demultiplexer for receiving TSs and dividing them into scrambled and non-scrambled data; a descrambler controller for receiving the scrambled data from the demultiplexer and descrambling it; a delay controller for receiving the non-scrambled data from the demultiplexer and the descrambled data from the descrambler controller and delaying them by a predetermined time; and a remultiplexer for receiving the data from the delay controller, multiplexing them, and outputting the multiplexed data in the TS format.

PURPOSE: A device for converting contents and a method thereof are provided to use contents manufactured adapted to a specific standard in a digital broadcasting system which is adapted to other standard. CONSTITUTION: A demultiplexing unit(10) demultiplexes an inputted digital broadcasting stream(BS1) and classifies the digital broadcasting stream(BS1) into a video stream(VS1), an audio stream(OS1), a broadcasting protocol stream(PS1), and a data stream(DS1). A conversion unit(20) converts each classified and inputted stream adapted to a standard to be broadcasted. A multiplexing unit(30) multiplexes each converted stream and a corresponding broadcasting protocol stream. A protocol server(40) supplies the broadcasting protocol stream corresponded to the broadcasting standard to the multiplexing unit(30). Because the video stream(VS1) is used as the same standard in each broadcasting stream, the audio stream(OS1), the broadcasting protocol stream(PS1), and the data stream(DS1) are converted only.

PURPOSE: A system and method for descrambling transport stream data are provided to descramble TS packet data inputted to a point of deployment module. CONSTITUTION: A system for descrambling transport stream data includes a transport stream packet input unit(20), a descrambling controller(30), and a descrambler(50). The transport stream packet input unit judges whether or not the transport stream data is descrambled using a header value of the TS packet data and outputs the judged result and TS packet data. The descrambling controller outputs a control signal to the TS packet input unit to allow the TS packet input unit to read the TS packet data and outputs a scrambling judgement signal according to the judged result. The descrambler judges whether or not the TS packet data is scrambled according to the scrambling judgement signal to vary descrambling process.

PURPOSE: A system and a method for processing message statistics are provided to generate an XML(eXtensible Markup Language) type of target file by considering the architecture of real data, for downstream and upstream messages flowing through a network controller connected between an IP(Internet Protocol) network and a cable network, and to store a result value of statistical data in a target table through parsing by elements to confirm the value of the target table. CONSTITUTION: A transceived message collector(21) collects upstream and downstream messages of a network controller. A database(24) stores data. A transceived message storage(22) stores the messages collected in the transceived message collector(21), if the collected messages exceed a predetermined amount. A statistical function executor(23) processes statistics of the messages stored in the database(24) through the function defined by a user. A statistical result storage(25) converts an executed result of the statistical function executor(23) into an XML file, to store the file in the database(24) as a target table. And a main memory(30) stores a result of the statistics processing by the statistical function executor(23).

PURPOSE: A program and system information protocol(PSIP) converting apparatus and method and a digital cable television broadcasting system using the PSIP converting apparatus are provided to convert PSIP of ground-wave broadcast and SI protocol of satellite broadcast into PSIP in cable broadcasting format in real time. CONSTITUTION: A PSIP converting apparatus includes a protocol data extraction unit(202), a protocol data conversion unit(203), a protocol data insertion unit(204), and a system controller(207). The protocol data extraction unit demultiplexes a digital ground-wave broadcast transport stream or satellite broadcast transport stream to extract A/V data and PSIP/PSI from the ground-wave broadcast transport stream and to extract A/V data and SI/PSI data from the satellite broadcast transport stream. The protocol data conversion unit generates PSIP/PSI data in a digital cable TV broadcast format, corresponding to the extracted PSIP/PSI data or SI/PSI data. The protocol data insertion unit inserts the PSIP/PSI data in the digital cable TV broadcast format into the extracted A/V data to generate a digital cable broadcast transport stream. The system controller controls the operations of the units.
