Abstract:
A vibrating compressor of the present invention, which comprises a piston driving section for driving a piston by supplying a piston driving force, a displacement detecting section connected in an axial direction of the piston, an upper dead point position detecting section for detecting an upper dead point position based on a piston position signal from the displacement detecting section, and a driving force control section for changing the driving force supplied to the piston by the piston driving section according to a difference between the upper dead point position and a preset upper dead point position reference value immediately after the upper dead point position detecting section detects the upper dead point position, prevents its compression efficiency from decreasing due to stabilization and prevents a device from being damaged. In the vibrating compressor, it is also possible to calculate a stroke based on a detected piston position or to control the driving force based on a detected frequency.

The sludge pump includes a material cylinder and a piston moveable in the material cylinder. A pump drive moves the piston during working cycles which include a pumping stroke and a filling stroke. A pump valve mechanism connects the material cylinder to an outlet during pumping strokes and connects the material cylinder to an inlet during filling strokes. A means for monitoring operation of the pump is provided. The means for monitoring includes a means for sensing a first parameter related to operation of the pump drive, a means for sensing a second parameter indicative of operation of the piston, and a means for determining errors in the operation of the pump based upon the first parameter and the second parameter.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses a system for pumping a fluid into a common pressure outlet. The system contains a plurality of reciprocating pumps. A separate sensor coupled to one cylinder of each pump provides an electrical signal each time the piston in that cylinder is at a predetermined position. A speed control circuit is provided to independently adjust the speed of each pump. Manual speed control for each pump is provided through a separate throttle for each pump. A pump control circuit coupled to each of the throttles, sensors and speed control circuit controls the operation of the system. An operator determines which of the pumps to operate by closing appropriate bypass switches provided at the pump control circuit, turns on the first (master) pump and adjusts its associated throttle to operate the pump at a desired speed. The operator then turns on each of the remaining (slave) pumps. The pump control circuit utilizing the information from each of the sensors provides control signals to the speed control circuit, which adjusts the speed of each of the slave pumps to synchronize the speeds of pumps and to maintain a desired phase shift between the sensor signals. The system also displays the speed of each of the operating pumps and the total fluid volume being discharged by all of the operating pumps.
Abstract:
A diaphragm metering pump having control over diaphragm extension is described. A position sensor is incorporated in a diaphragm metering pump to indicate the relative position of the diaphragm during flexure. When excessive extension of the diaphragm is sensed by the position sensor, a control valve will provide hydraulic fluid from a reservoir for inhibiting further deflection of the diaphragm in the direction in which it was moving. Diaphragm life is extended as well as the accuracy of metering provided by the pump maintained.
Abstract:
A variable-speed drive controller and associated methods are disclosed for reciprocated lifting systems, particularly long-stroke, fluid-pumping systems such as certain oil-producing equipment. A variable-speed drive is controlled through an electronic feedback loop by a programmable controller, which varies the speed of the drive when sensors detect the passage of the reciprocating mechanism. The controller can be set to slow the drive when the reciprocating mechanism reaches the end of the stroke, to permit faster production of fluid without increased mechanical wear on the reciprocating mechanism or increased stress on the lifting string. The controller also can be set to slow the drive on the downstroke, such as to permit faster production of fluid when pumping viscous liquid.

A multiple-mode, multiplex pumping apparatus includes circuit control elements for initializing the apparatus by placing each of the pistons and plungers in each pumping section of the multiplex pumping apparatus at a respective initial starting point. The pumping apparatus also includes electronic circuit elements for controlling the inlet valves, exhaust valves and precompression valves of the hydraulic circuit of the pumping apparatus. The apparatus includes phase control circuit elements for controlling the separation of the leading edges of the plungers of two of the pumping sections of the apparatus when the apparatus is operating as a quadruplex pump. The pumping apparatus also includes elecrtronic circuit elements for insuring that each plunger of each pumping section stops at a fixed stopping point. The apparatus also includes electronic circuit elements for controlling the volume of fluid in the rod end portions of each of the pumping sections. There are also electronic circuit elements for controlling the mode in which the apparatus functions in response to the pressure and stroke of the main pump powering the apparatus. The apparatus still further includes electronic circuit elements for converting the pumping apparatus from quadruplex operation to triplex operation.
