Abstract:
A method for evaluating a color of a sample includes acquiring a color calibrated swatch of the sample, the color calibrated swatch comprising a plurality of pixels, and comparing all pixels that are of a first color in a swatch of a standard to all of the plurality of pixels that are of a second color, wherein the second color is a color in the swatch of the sample that is most similar to the first color in the swatch of the standard.
Abstract:
The color device (300) has a core (302) with hues that gradually change whiteness, respectively. The discs have hues covering an entire color spectrum at a certain level of whiteness. All hues of the first and second discs (308, 306) have the first and second level of whiteness, respectively. The discs extend perpendicularly outwardly from the core. The first disc (308) is axially remote from the second disc (306) so that a distance (d) is formed therebetween. The discs are aligned so that color cells of the first disc (308) axially aligned with color cells of the second disc (306) have identical hues except for different whiteness. The level of color saturation in the color cells is gradually increased radially outwardly from the core (302).
Abstract:
Assembly (2) for selecting matching colours to base colours of user articles. The assembly comprises a substrate (4) provided with a plurality of selection areas (5) that have mutually differing selection colours. The assembly further comprises a cover (6) having a first main surface (8) provided with a first base colour and having a second main surface (9). The cover is provided with a window (10). The assembly is provided with holding means (12) for holding the cover to the substrate in a first cover position wherein, by means of the window, at least one selection area is exposed. The second main surface is provided with a second base colour. The window and the holding means are arranged for holding the cover to the substrate in a second cover position wherein, by means of the window, at least one selection area is exposed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of selecting the most probable variant of a matching paint candidate colour standard for vehicle repair using a mobile device having a colour display and an input unit and which is capable of data exchange with a central computer via an at least partly wireless communication line, wherein information indicating the location of the mobile device is sent to the central computer via the at least partly wireless communication line. The indication of the location of the mobile device is taken into account in the selection of candidate colour standards and/or the selection of variants.
Abstract:
A method for providing a mapping from apparent colour to actual colour for an image capture device including capturing an image of a reference colour chart having a plurality of colour patches using the image capture device, wherein each colour patch has an associated reference colour, measuring the apparent colour of the plurality of colour patches in the captured image, selecting a plurality of control points representing different hue values within a circular hue space, determining an angular offset for each control point such that the distance between a transformed apparent colour and the reference colour for each colour patch is minimised, the angular offset representing a hue correction, wherein interpolation of the angular offsets for the control points provides a mapping from apparent colour to actual colour for the image capture device.
Abstract:
A paint swatch test device includes a transparent or translucent substrate, such as a sheet of polymeric material, and a plurality of different primer coating patches on the substrate. The patches preferably form a grayscale series of neutral white and gray primer patches having stepwise increments in light reflectance values. The patches can also be provided on an opaque substrate. The color suitability and/or hiding power of a topcoat paint desired to be applied to a surface to be painted can be determined by coating the topcoat paint on at least a portion of a surface of the transparent or translucent substrate, providing a grayscale series of patches between the paint coating and the surface to be painted, and observing the appearance of the paint coating where patches are beneath the coating and where patches are not beneath the coating.
