Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized band-pass filter, ensuring a sufficient mechanical strength. SOLUTION: The filter comprises a dielectric block 2, composed of first parts belonging to a region extending from one section to another section parallel thereto and second and third parts divided by the first parts, and a metallization formed on the dielectric block 2 surface to form a cut-off waveguide 11 with the first parts and a first and second resonators 12, 13 with the second and third parts. The metallization includes excitation electrodes 8, 9 formed on the broadest side of the block 2. This makes possible attaining both the thinning and the broadening the band of the dielectric block at the same time. Thinning of the dielectric block reduces the radiation loss, to thereby obtain a high unloaded Q-value (Q0 ).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly compact and easily fabricated band pass filter. SOLUTION: The band pass filter employs a first half-wave (λ/2) resonator 2 having a first open end on which an input terminal is formed and a second open end opposite to the first open end, a second half-wave (λ/2) resonator 3 having a third open end on which an output terminal is formed and a fourth open end opposite to the third open end, and an evanescent waveguide 4 interposed between the second open end of the first resonator 2 and the fourth open end of the second resonator 3. The first half-wave (λ/2) resonator 2, the second half-wave (λ/2) resonator 3 and the evanescent waveguide 4 being single- unit. An air gap does not have to be formed by mounting components on a printed circuit board. Therefore, the overall size of the band pass filter can be miniaturized and fabrication of the band pass filter is simplified.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a band pass filter using a TEM mode dielectric resonator which has good filtering performance and can be miniaturized. SOLUTION: This band pass filter is provided with dielectric resonators 40 and 41 including dielectric blocks 400 and 410 respectively having upper plans, a lower plane and four side faces and a waveguide combining part 42 of an evanescent E mode. Each of the resonators 40 and 41 has metallic layers 401, 411; 402, 412 coated respectively to the upper plane and the lower plane and metallic layers 403, 413 coated to one of the four side faces, the side surface coated with the layers 403 and 413 are made to be short-circuited surfaces and the other three side surfaces are made to be open surfaces so as to operate as a λ/4 dielectric resonator and to maintain the TEM mode. The part 42, which combines both of the resonators 40 and 41 by the TEM mode, has a cut-off frequency higher than that of each of them.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the characteristics of a dielectric resonator device, without lowering no-load Q by mounting dielectric chips on a dielectric resonator part or between dielectric resonators adjacent to each other. SOLUTION: An electrode 1 with non-electrode forming parts 4a, 4b is formed on the upper surface of a dielectric plate 3 consisting of dielectric ceramics. An electrode with the non-electrode forming parts with the same shapes facing opposite each of the non-electrode forming parts 4a, 4b is formed on the lower surface of the dielectric plate 3. Thus, each of the non-electrode forming parts facing opposite each other are actuated as the dielectric resonator parts of a TE 010 mode. The resonance frequency of the dielectric resonators is, for example, in a 20 GHz zone. Each of the dielectric chips 21a, 21b, 21c, 21d, 21e with rectangular parallelepiped shapes are adhered and fixed at a prescribed position of the dielectric plate 3 by using, for example, an epoxy adhesive. Thus, the characteristics of the dielectric resonator device are adjusted by providing the dielectric chips 21a to 21e on the dielectric plate 3.
