Abstract:
The present invention provides a grease composition which prevents frictional wear of a lubricating surface in a high load-applied state or in a state in which sliding motion is generated and is durable for a long time, a method of manufacturing capable of easily determining an addition ratio of an extreme-pressure agent of the grease composition, and a rolling bearing in which the grease composition is enclosed. A grease composition is composed by adding a thickener and an extreme-pressure agent containing sulfur in a molecular structure thereof to base oil. The extreme-pressure agent is added to the base oil so that a product of an amount (mgS/g) of active sulfur contained in the extreme-pressure agent and an addition amount (wt %) of the extreme-pressure agent with respect to an entire amount of the grease composition is in a range of 3 to 13.
Abstract:
A process for the in-situ formation of a lubricating phase comprising sulphur and tin in a friction material, wherein reaction of a sulphur source with a tin source in said friction material results in the formation of said lubricating phase, and wherein said reaction is initiated or effected by heat resulting, in use, from the generation of friction, wherein said sulphur source is selected from one or both of sulphur and/or a metal sulphide selected from one or more of iron, copper, zinc, titanium and bismuth, and wherein said tin source is selected from one or more of tin, a tin-containing compound and/or a tin-containing alloy.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a sulfur-based extreme-pressure additive that is completely soluble in water without using a surfactant, and has satisfactory odor and hue. In addition, the present invention provides a cutting liquid and grinding liquid having superior defoaming property and rust preventive characteristics, while also having high load resistance and lubrication performance comparable to cutting oils and grinding oils of the prior art. The above objects are achieved by an extreme-pressure additive comprising the salt of a condensation product of a sulfurized hydroxy-unsaturated fatty acid, the condensation product having a sulfur content of 8 to 15% by weight (mass), color of 6 or less, and acid value of 80 to 200, and a grinding liquid comprising that extreme-pressure additive and water.
Abstract:
A lubricating composition having extreme pressure anti-wear properties comprises a lubricating oil and a trisubstituted-borate prepared by sulfurizing the reaction product of a boron compound, a phenol compound, and either a mono-functional compound or dihydroxy functional compound free of nitrogen.
Abstract:
The cloud point of a hydrodewaxed base stock is reduced by direct sulfurization of the base stock, or by direct sulfurization of the base stock in the presence of a magnesium compound.
Abstract:
Compositions containing a base lubricant, an antiwear amount of a polypropylene glycol and sulfur; and a solubility improving amount of a monohydric alcohol having from 5 to 30 carbon atoms are provided. These compositions are especially useful for metal working and cutting applications.
Abstract:
As a new class of multifunctional additives, for imparting dispersancy and viscosity improving properties to lubricant compositions, ether-linked polymers having the structure: ##STR1## in which: A and B may be the same, i.e., B=A or different substituents and are individually selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, hydroxy and amino derivatives thereof, carboxy, alkyl carboxy, hydroxy, phosphono, phosphato, sulfonato, mercapto and a nitrogen-containing group having a chain length from 1 to 500 carbon atoms, x, y and z are zero or a whole number and at least one of x and y is a whole number, andC is ##STR2##
