Abstract:
A threaded joint for steel pipe formed of a pin and a box having a contact surface including threaded parts and a non-threaded metal contact part and capable of preventing a seizure by repeated tightening and loosening operations without applying compound grease thereto, wherein a solid lubricating film including lubricating powder such as molybdenum disulfide and resin binder is formed on the contact surface of at least one of the pin and box by drying the film by a primary heating in the temperature range of 70 to 150 DEG C and by a secondary heating in the temperature range of more than 150 to 380 DEG C, the solid lubricating film thus obtained has a Rockwell M scale hardness of 70 to 140, an adhesive strength of 500 N/m or higher obtained by the SAICAS method (surface-boundary cutting method), and excellent seizure resistance and airtightness even in a high temperature well environment, and, when ultraviolet ray shielding particles such as titanium oxide are contained in the solid lubricating film, the rust-proofness of the threaded joint is increased.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for treating or pretreating containers made of aluminum, aluminum-containing alloys, magnesium-containing alloys, ferrous products such as steel, coated ferrous products such as galvanized steel or metal materials coated with aluminum or aluminum alloys, tinplate, brass or bronze, especially pouches, bags, bottles, cans, canisters, barrels or cases, wherein the process steps of treatment or pretreatment coincide with that of applying a lubricant. The agent used for treatment or pretreatment, which also contains and/or is a lubricant, does not substantially consist of titanium and/or zirconium with fluoride and a polymer. The lubricant is formed in the agent used for treatment or pretreatment and/or when the coating resulting therefrom is formed.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition is disclosed that comprises: (a) a lubricant and (b) at least one molybdenum-containing compound in the form of surface-capped nanosized particles of the general formula: (Z)n(X-R)m wherein Z is an inorganic moiety comprising molybdenum and sulfur in the form of particles having dimensions in the range of from about 1 to about 100 nm; (X-R) is a surface-capping reagent wherein R is a C4 to C20 straight or branched-chain alkyl or alkylated cycloalkyl radical or radicals and X is a functional group capable of specific sorption and/or chemical interaction with molybdenum/sulfur moiety; n is the number of molecules of Z in the particles; m is an integer representing the amount of surface-capping reagents relative to a single particle; and the ratio of m to n is in the range of from about 1:1 to about 10:1.
Abstract:
According to the invention there is provided a liquid friction control composition characterized as either having a high and positive friction characteristic or a low and neutral friction characteristic, comprising a retentivity agent. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components such as a solid lubricant, a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems.
Abstract:
A two- or a one-step process and composition which coats metal workpiece surfaces (aluminum, copper, steel, stainless steel, etc.) with a thin lubricant film capable of allowing the metal to be deformed at room temperature. The lubricant consists essentially of polymers, dispersants, high molecular weight waxes and insoluble metallic stearates. With some ferrous surfaces, a separate coating layer is simultaneously formed (in the one-step process) or pre-formed (in the two-step process) at the metal interface, acting as a base for the lubricant. The process, after pickling in a mineral acid to remove scale and oxides, comprises the step(s) of immersing the workpiece either once or twice. The workpiece is then dried in a heated, forced air dryer.
Abstract:
An aqueous lubricating fluid or hydraulic fluid which is usable as a substitute for oily fluids which have been used as lubricating oils or hydraulic fluids for working parts of machines or apparatuses. The fluid contains fluoride ions, hydrogen carbonate ions, and a water-soluble alcohol or a derivative thereof.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition for the plastic working of metals that does not require a phosphate undercoating, is waterborne, requires only a simple application process of immersion or spraying followed by drying, and provides an excellent lubricating performance comprises synthetic resin, water-soluble inorganic salt, and water. The weight ratio of the content of salt to that of synthetic resin is from 0.25:1 to 9:1. This composition can also contain liquid and/or solid lubricating agent(s) and extreme pressure additive.
Abstract:
A grease composition for a constant velocity joint, characterised in that it contains from 0.05 to 30 percent by weight of sodium thiosulphate with respect to a base oil and urea-based thickener.
Abstract:
he present invention provides compositions and methods for the coating and/or ballistic conditioning of firearm projectiles and firearm components including gun barrels, firearm chambers, fully assembled cartridges, shotgun shells, shotgun wads, shot capsules and sabots with molybdenum disulfide. The composition comprises powdered molybdenum disulfide suspended in a carrier comprising a volatile solvent and a binder selected from cellulosic-, alkyd- and acrylic-resins. Methods for the conditioning of firearm bores by the formation of a hardened layer comprising a product of the reaction or interaction of molybdenum disulfide with materials in the barrel bore are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A water-based release agent comprises: 30-99 % total solids by weight chemically exfoliated vermiculite, and 1-70 % total solids by weight of a plate-like filler. Such release agents are particularly suitable for use with gaskets. An anisotropic release agent is formed from which it is easy to release other materials.
