Abstract:
Disclosed herein are a tire-reinforcing steel cord and a pneumatic radial tire using the same. The tire-reinforcing steel cord (1) includes an inner layer (2) consisting of 3 filaments and an outer layer (3) consisting of 7 or 8 filaments and surrounding the inner layer (2). The inner layer (2) and the outer layer (3) are twisted in such a manner that they have the same twist direction and the same twist pitch length, whereby the number of the twisting steps in the manufacture of the steel cord (1) is reduced, and also the penetration of rubber into the steel cord (1) is improved such that the steel cord (1) has an improved durability upon application to tires.

The invention relates to a cord comprising a core structure and one layer, said core structure consisting of 1 to 4 core filaments (1) having a diameter d₁, d₁ being greater than 0.15 mm and smaller than 0.40 mm, said layer consisting of n + m layer filaments (2) having a diameter d₂ and being twisted in the same direction and at the same pitch as the core filaments (1) of said core, d₂ being greater than or equal to d₁ - 0.05 mm and being smaller than or equal to d₁ - 0.015 mm, n being equal to the number of core filaments (1) and m being equal to six if n is greater than one and being equal to five if n is equal to one, whereby the core filaments (1) are visually different from the layer filaments (2).

@ Verfahren zum Herstellen eines mehrlagigen, einlitzigen und kompakten Verstärkungscordes für elastomere Erzeugnisse in einem Verseilvorgang, durch Zuführen von Metalldrähten gleichen Durchmessers in mehrere hintereinanderliegende Verseilpunkte, wobei zwei oder mehr Metalldrähte dem ersten Verseilpunkt zugeführt werden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass den dem ersten Verseilpunkt folgenden weiteren Verseilpunkten jeweils höchstens soviele Metalldrähte zugeführt werden, wieviele Plätze vorhanden sind, bei denen jeder zugeführte Metalldraht mit mindestens zwei bereits vorhandenen Metalldrähten in Berührung gebracht werden kann.
