Abstract: Devices and methods for operating a diaphragm compressor system provide high output pressure and high throughput. In some force coupled embodiments, pressures on an actuator piston are balanced by high-pressure recovery or medium-pressure shuffling arrangements. In some embodiments, modular diaphragm compressors are stacked with a clamping mechanism pressing the compressor modules together. In embodiments, multiple stacks are provided as stages of a pressurization process. In embodiments, a main stage valve controls one or more pressure circuits for one or more hydraulic actuators of compressor modules. In embodiments, orifices configured for damping are incorporated to control actuator piston movement within a compressor module.

Abstract: Devices and methods for operating a diaphragm compressor. Embodiments of the present disclosure comprise an oil piston being driven to pressurize work oil against the diaphragm of the compressor. In embodiments, an injection pump provides a supplemental flow of work oil in the region of pressurized fluid, and such pump may be part of an actively controlled system. In embodiments, a pressure relief valve vents an overpump flow of work oil, and such valve may be variable. Embodiments provide feedback and control mechanisms, including control of the injection pump and the relief valve.

Abstract: A liquid feed pump which increases the liquid flow velocity in a stagnation area in the pressure chamber of a plunger pump, thereby improving the liquid replacement speed in the plunger pump. When the liquid in the liquid feed pump is replaced, a first plunger slides back and forth in the space between a lower limit point and an upper limit point, and the second plunger stops at least temporarily at a position near to the upper limit point or slides back and forth for a shorter distance than when the liquid feed pump usually feeds the liquid.

Abstract: A high pressure pump including a linear actuator having a servo motor to axially rotate a hollow rotor shaft in alternating directions, the servo motor having a stator positioned co-axially around the hollow rotor shaft with an interior of the rotor shaft being co-axially coupled to a drive member to convert axial rotation into reciprocal displacement, the drive member being constrained against linear movement and supporting a shaft. At least one piston is coupled to the shaft and the piston is arranged within a cylinder to define a pumping chamber, whereby alternating rotation of the rotor shaft causes reciprocal linear displacement of the piston to pressurize fluid in the pumping chamber. A drive mechanism includes a controller coupled to a servomotor and an encoder to measure movement of the hollow rotor or output shaft and send a feedback signal proportional to the movement to the controller.

Abstract: A method for detecting head crashing in a linear compressor includes sampling a rolling average of a peak applied voltage and a desired peak current each time that a current controller adjusts the desired peak current. The method also includes calculating a linear regression for a predicted peak applied voltage as a function of the desired peak current, calculating the predicted peak voltage for the motor of the linear compressor with the linear regression and a current value for the desired peak current from the current controller, and establishing that a piston of the linear compressor is soft crashing when the predicted peak voltage is different than the current value for the rolling average of the peak applied voltage by more than a threshold value.

Abstract: An example linear pumping system suitable for small size and low flow rate operation. The system includes a pump casing that encloses a linear motor and one or two (an upper and lower) pumps. The pump casing may include an upper fluid inlet port, a lower fluid inlet port, and a fluid-outlet port. The linear motor includes a stator and a mover, where the mover includes an upper plunger portion and a lower plunger portion and is configured to move alternately up and down relative to the stator. The upper and lower pumps positioned on both sides of the mover may each include a pump chamber, a fluid inlet valve, and a fluid outlet valve. In operation, hydraulic pressure from the upper and lower pump outlet valves causes fluid within an interior cavity of the pump casing to be expelled through the fluid outlet port. The motion of the mover can be controlled using pressure and/or plunger position measurements.

Abstract: A continuous flow pumping system which provides a continuous flow of materials out of an outlet while eliminating rough stroke shift and boom bounce. The continuous flow pumping system generally includes a container for storing a material to be dispensed such as concrete. Cylinders are fluidly connected to the container such that the materials may be alternatively pulled into the cylinders or pushed out of the cylinders. A diverter valve is connected to the container adjacent the cylinders which includes a valve inlet through which the materials may be pushed to be dispensed and a pair of blocking portions which selectively cover the cylinders and also serve to cut through the materials. By rotating the diverter valve through a plurality of positions while independently controlling the intake and exhaust strokes of the cylinders, a continuous flow of materials may be ensured across all intake/exhaust strokes of the cylinders.
