The present invention provides a planographic printing plate precursor having a support, a photosensitive layer and a protective layer. The photosensitive layer contains at least an infrared absorbing agent, a polymerization initiating agent, a polymerizable compound and a binder polymer having repeating units represented by the following Formula (i). Further, the protective layer contains at least an inorganic lamellar compound. In Formula (i), R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R2 represents a connecting group having two or more types of atom selected from the group consisting of a carbon atom, a hydrogen atom, an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom, and a sulfur atom and having 2 to 82 atoms in total; A represents an oxygen atom or —NR3—, and R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and n is an integer of 1 to 5.

A planographic printing plate precursor comprising an aluminum support having a hydrophilic front surface, and a negative recording layer provided on the front surface, wherein the negative recording layer includes a polymerizable compound, a radiation absorber, and a compound that generates a radical upon application of radiation or heat, and a Bekk smoothness of a back surface of the planographic printing plate precursor is 1000 seconds or less. Also provided are a stack of the planographic printing plate precursors and a method of making a planographic printing plate using the planographic printing plate precursor.

It is an object of the present invention to provide that printing plate materials of the present invention exhibit excellent printing durability, less “out of color” registration, and improved printing image quality. Disclosed is a printing plate material possessing an image formation layer on one surface of a polyester support and not less than two backing layers on the other surface, wherein at least one of the backing layers is an electrically conductive layer, at least one of the backing layer is a layer containing at least one resin selected from polyester resin, acryl resin, acryl modified polyester resin and cellulose ester resin provided on the electrically conductive layer, and at least one of the backing layers contains an organic matting agent.

Substrates for imageable elements are disclosed. The substrates comprise, in order, an aluminum or aluminum alloy support, a silicate layer, and a layer of interlayer material. The interlayer material is a co-polymer that comprise (1) phosphonic acid groups and/or phosphate groups and (2) acid groups and/or groups that comprise ethylene glycol or polyethylene glycol side chains. Imageable elements that comprise an imageable layer over the interlayer material are useful as lithographic printing plate precursors.

The present invention provides a processless printing plate precursor including a thermally sensitive layer applied onto a substrate. The thermally sensitive layer includes polycyanoacrylate particles having a major dimension between about 50 and about 500 nm, and a mean major dimension of no greater than about 350 nm. The printing plate precursor may be exposed to radiation and may then be developed “on press” with a suitable fountain solution.
