    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process and an installation for inexpensively producing a steel code having a structure twisting 5 to 8 element wires around a wavy- shaped core element wire and an elliptical whole cross-section by using a double- twisting type wire-twister in an excellent quality equal to or higher than that of a steel code produced by a cylinder type code twister. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a processor for producing a steel code comprising an almost two-dimensionally waving continuous core element wire 1 and 5-8 side element wires 2 surrounding the core element wire 1. In this process, the core element wire 1 is imparted with a helical form of continuous small waves, then compressed to a flat spiral form before the wire twisting, and, on the other hand, 5-8 side element wires 2 are individually formed. Subsequently, these side element wires 2 are assembled around one core element wire 1 of a flattened spiral form to form a bundle. The element wire bundle is tentatively twisted with a tentative twister 14 and guided to the main body of a double-twisting type wire twister 5, the wire bundle is twisted, the shaping is enhanced and the code is compressed and wound up around a reel.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord of which cord shorter diameter is made as approximately 2-folds of a raw wire diameter so as to make the thickness of the composite sheet as further thinner, capable of elevating the stiffness in crossing direction at right angle to the direction of tire rotation even by reducing the stiffness in the tire rotation direction, stabilizing twist structure, also decreasing initial elongation, and excellent in working property in handling and rubber infiltration.
    SOLUTION: This steel cord having 1+n (n=5-8) structure is provided with that a core wire 2 has a small wavy form 4 as an almost 2-dimensional sine curve state in the direction of crossing at right angle with a longer axis of an ellipse of an outer circumferential circle of side wires 3, and the core wire 2 cuts in from inside between the side wires 3, 3 positioned at the shorter axis side of the ellipse.
