Abstract: Bi-directional and multi-axial woven or knitted fabrics, fabric composites, ballistically resistant assemblies thereof, and the methods by which they are made. The fabrics are comprised of sets of strong, substantially parallel, unidirectional yarns lying in parallel planes, one above the other, with the direction of the yarns (11) in a given plane rotated at an angle to the direction of the yarns (12) in adjacent planes; and one or more sets of yarns (13, 14) having lower strength and higher elongation interleaved with the strong yarns. The fabrics of the invention provide superior ballistic effectiveness compared to ordinary woven and knitted fabrics but retain the ease of manufacture on conventional looms and knitting machines.

Abstract: A method of making an open grid weft inserted warp knit reinforcement fabric (100) having a soft hand for reinforcing wall systems is disclosed. First and second sets of substantially parallel ends are arranged in an overlying relation at a substantial angle to one another. The yarns (10, 20) of the first and second sets preferably have a linear density between 100 and 2000 grams per thousand meters and are arranged at an average of 3 to 10 ends per inch. The first and second sets of yarns (10, 20) are affixed together by weft insertion warp knitting with tie yarn (30) to form the open grid fabric (100) having a warp direction and weft direction. A polymeric coating is applied to the yarns (10, 20) at a level of 15 to 150 parts dry weight of resin (40) to 100 parts by weight of the fabric (100). A method for reinforcing a wall system and a wall segment product utilizing the novel fabric (100) of the present invention are also disclosed.

Abstract: A dust-proof fabric having an excellent dust-collecting efficiency and dust-preventing property including a plurality of filament yams having a thickness of 20 to 400 denier and consisting of a plurality of individual filaments having a denier of 3.5 or less. The fabric has a number of pores formed therein and exhibits an air permeability of 0.3 to 10 ml/cm 2 /sec. In the fabric, the proportion of the integrated volume of pores having a size of 43 µm or more to the entire integrated volume of all the pores in the fabric is 40% or less.

Abstract: Densified textile aggregates are co-fed with a fuel into a partial oxidation gasifier. High solids concentrations in the feedstock composition can be obtained without significant impact on the feedstock composition stability and pumpability. A consistent quality of densified textile derived syngas can be continuously produced, including generation of carbon dioxide and a carbon monoxide/hydrogen ratio while stably operating the gasifier and avoiding the high tar generation of fluidized bed or fixed bed waste gasifiers and without impacting the operations of the gasifier. The densified textile derived syngas quality, composition, and throughput are suitable for produce a wide range of chemicals and polymers, including methanol, acetic acid, methyl acetate, acetic anhydride, and cellulose esters through a variety of reaction schemes in which at least a portion of the chemical or polymer originates with densified textile derived syngas.

Abstract: Textiles are provided that include fibrous cellulosic materials having an α-cellulose content of less than about 93%, the fibrous materials being spun, woven, knitted, or entangled. The fibrous cellulosic materials can be irradiated with a dose of ionizing radiation that is sufficient to increase the molecular weight of the cellulosic materials without causing significant depolymerization of the cellulosic materials. Methods of treating textiles that include irradiating the textiles are also provided.
