Abstract:
A method and apparatus for color matching are provided, in which paint recipe neural networks are utilized. The color of a standard is expressed as color values. The neural network includes an input layer having nodes for receiving input data related to paint bases. Weighted connections connect to the nodes of the input layer and have coefficients for weighting the input data. An output layer having nodes are either directly or indirectly connected to the weighted connections and generates output data related to color values. The data to the input layer and the data from the output layer are interrelated through the neural network's nonlinear relationship.

A processor, wherein the processor receives data generated by the first spectrometer system and the second spectrometer system, wherein an optical measurement of a sample under test is produced based on the data generated by the first and second spectrometer systems.
Abstract:
An optical sensor for more accurate measurement, an optical sensing method, a program, and a recording medium. The optical sensor measures the luminance characteristic of a specific color outputted from a display illuminated with a specific illuminating light. Light separating means (60f) of the optical sensor separates the color component of the illuminating light from the color component of the specific color. A converting section (60g) for a display converts the separated color component of the specific color from LMS to XYZ by using an operand Md for the display. A converting section (60h) for illumination converts the separated color component of the illuminating light from LMS to XYZ by using an operand Mi for illumination. Thus, the conversion from RGB to LMS is carried out by independently using the operands for the display and illumination, and hence high-accuracy measurement can be made even for the superimposed colors of the output of the display and the illumination light.
Abstract:
This invention concerns improvements relating to staged production in volume manufacture of products such as ceramics tiles (or other multi-stage process industries including, for example, food, leather, timber, plastics and textiles). Parameters are measured at multiple points along the process and correlations are identified between input and output parameters. Interdependencies between parameters are stored and the process is controlled at multiple stages according to a stored interdependency in response to a given parameter change. Output parameters may include: density of or defects in products emerging from a press (26,Fig.1); parameters of glaze applied in a glazing station (30); or moisture content or grain size distribution of particulate material from storage (24). Input parameters may include one or more of: press pressure, press speed, pump pressure, air temperature and air flow rate. Aspects include: monitoring the density of "green" tiles on-line: detecting defects in "green" tiles on-line using infrared imaging; monitoring on-line the colour in the raw material that is produced for tile production and/or in glaze preparation; and measuring the temperature profile of tiles using an infra-red camera. A non-contact ultrasound sensor is also described, and a belt conveyor (Fig. 2) having a drive speed output signal and a sensor for sensing product movement along the belt. Predicted product movement along the belt is computed based on the drive speed output signal and compared with actual product movement. An alert is provided if actual product movement departs from predicted product movement by more than a pre-set threshold.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method, apparatus, and system for color management by a retailer. The method, for example, includes comprising the steps of: choosing an engineered color standard (ECS); communicating the ECS to a product vendor; having a product produced using the ECS; and controlling the product's color quality by comparing the ECS to the produced product. The ECS preferably comprises reflectance data and a dye specification.
Abstract:
A system and method for calculating harmonizing colors based on a reference color. In a first embodiment, the invention includes (a) defining a reference color in a uniform color space, (b) converting the hue of the reference color from the uniform color space to an artists color wheel, (c) determining harmonizing colors for the reference color within the artists color wheel, (d) converting the hues of the harmonizing colors from the artists color wheel to the uniform color space, and (e) displaying the harmonizing color information. In a second embodiment, a brown region is defined for colors having red/orange/yellow hues and low chroma values. Additional harmonizing colors are determined when either the reference color or one of the harmonizing colors falls within the brown region.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a grating optical sensor comprised of a lens (1) that reproduces an object space, of a diffractive hexagonal 3D grating optical modulator (4) in the image plane (5) of the lens (1), of a photoelectric receiver device (8), which is arranged in the near field behind the modulator (4) in accordance with the centrosymmetrically trichromatic diffraction orders (R, G, B), and of an evaluation device for the electrical signals generated by the individual receivers (8). The invention is characterized in that at least one light diffusion glass (9) is arranged in the pupillary plane of the lens (1) or in a pupillary plane conjugate thereto. The inventive sensor is used for conducting chromatometries with a color constancy performance via a thermal radiation source (17), which modifies the grating constants of the 3D grating (4) for a new white standard value.
Abstract:
Under the condition that two or more groups of samples created by CCM toning or visual toning for matching the color to a target color of a sample are prepared and components such as a coloring agent defining a sample color are registered in a CCM apparatus, the difference DELTA R-n (n represents the sample number) between the spectral reflectance RST-n determined by measuring the sample colors and the spectral reflectance RPR-n determined by CCM simulation corresponding to the mixture of the sample colors with respect to the same n is determined. The reproducibility of the group of samples is evaluated on the basis of the difference DELTA R-n, and judgment on if the toning is to be continued is simply and quickly made. If an abnormal sample is detected, the difference DELTA R'-b of the sample determined by a specific formula is determined. By comparing a specific target color with the color of the toning sample defined by CCM simulation for matching the color with the specific color, the components such as a coloring agent mixed in the sample are identified and the amounts of components are estimated.
Abstract:
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is a method for allowing a potential purchaser to specify a custom color to a vendor. The method is implemented through a potential purchaser computer coupled to a vendor host computer system by a network. The method includes receiving at the vendor host computer system a request to specify a custom color from the potential purchaser computer. The potential purchaser computer is provided with a custom color request form. The vendor host computer system receives a custom color specification from the potential purchaser computer which is based on entries in the custom color request form. An alternate embodiment of the invention is a method for selecting a color from a vendor color database in response to a standard color. The method is implemented through a potential purchaser computer coupled to a vendor host computer system by a network. The method includes receiving at the vendor host computer system a standard color from the potential purchaser computer. The vendor host computer retrieves at least one color from the vendor color database close to the standard color. The at least one vendor color close to the standard color is presented to the potential purchaser computer.
