Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To back up data with consistency in timing for a plurality of copy sessions without lowering an I/O processing performance.SOLUTION: A storage device includes: a copy processing unit 12 for storing a copy of copy origin data of a copy origin volume to a copy destination volume; a copy execution management unit (session definition unit) 13 for making copy execution preparations for copy processing and setting the copy processing to a copy execution standby state; an activation management unit 14 for setting activation object information to the copy processing specified by an activation instruction from a host device 2; and a copy control unit (asynchronous activation control unit) 15 for canceling the copy execution standby state for the copy processing in the copy execution standby state to which the activation object information is set, and making the copy processing unit 12 execute the copy processing.
Abstract:
In a copy control method, during a process for the acquisition of a data copy at a designated time, a recovery period of time can still be reduced when an input/output request is issued for copy source data at the designated time. For a system that includes a first storage device in which data are stored, a second storage device that obtains a data copy, and a host computer that writes data to the first storage device, the second storage device obtains blank input/output requests that are issued at predetermined time intervals if the host computer does not generate an input/output request for the first storage device, and the second storage device determines that a time closest to a predetermined data copy acquisition time, which is a target time for the acquisition of a data copy, is a copy execution time for the acquisition of a data copy.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure the consistency of copied data and facilitate the confirmation thereof. SOLUTION: A storage system 2 copies data from a copying origin housing 4 to a copying destination housing 6, and includes a storing area creating unit (control units 12, 22, central control unit). The storing area creating unit causes the storing units 14, 24 of the storage (copying origin housing 4 and copying destination housing 6) side to create a status information storing area for storing status information based on grouping of data; in storing data divided into multiple pieces in a storage. Then, the status information of each group is stored in the status information storing area created by the storing unit. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use sub-volume at an asynchronous remote copying destination.SOLUTION: When the virtual tape of the main storage system 20P is updated, journal data are created. The journal data are transmitted to a DR (Disaster Recovery) storage system 20S asynchronously with the timing at which the write data are received from a computer 10P in a main site 1P. The journal data includes a marker to notify of the start of updating and a marker to notify of the completion of updating. The DR storage system 20S prohibits the use of the copy destination data during the period from start of updating until completion of updating, and permits referencing the copy destination data during other periods.
Abstract:
A data processing system includes a first storage system that is connected to a host device and sends and receives data to and from the host device; a second storage system that is connected to the first storage system and receives data from the first storage system; and a third storage system that is connected to the first storage system and receives data from the first storage system. The first storage system, the second storage system and the third storage system are arranged to be changeable between a first status including first and second copy pairs and a second status including a third copy pair in response to a predetermined condition at the first storage system.
