    Abstract: A fan system includes a motor, a rotatable hub, and a plurality of fan blades. The motor is coupled with the hub by a hollow drive shaft, such that the drive system of the fan system is gearless. The motor is controlled by a PFC-based control module, which is in communication with sensors that are configured to sense parameters associated with operation of the fan system. The control module is configured to react in certain ways to certain conditions detected by the sensors, such that the fan system uses feedback-based control algorithms. A remote control panel is in communication with the control module. The remote control panel is operable to display fault conditions detected by the sensors. Blade retainers prevent fan blades from falling when a fan blade breaks free from the hub. Pins prevent the hub from falling when the hub breaks free from the rotor.

    Abstract: A fan kit comprises a hub, a plurality of fan blades, and a plurality of inserts. The hub is rotatable about an axis, wherein the hub comprises a plurality of mounting tabs extending outwardly relative to the axis, wherein each mounting tab of the plurality of mounting tabs has a leading edge and a trailing edge. Each fan blade of the plurality of fan blades has a hollow interior, wherein the hollow interior of each fan blade is defined by at least one interior surface, wherein the hollow interior of each fan blade is configured to insertingly receive a corresponding mounting tab of the plurality of mounting tabs. The plurality of inserts are configured to be positioned in the hollow interior of the fan blades at locations between the mounting tabs and the interior surface of each fan blade. The inserts comprise a first set of inserts, wherein the inserts of the first set of inserts are configured to provide the fan blades with a first angle of attack when the inserts of the first set and the mounting tabs are inserted in the hollow interiors of the fan blades. The inserts also comprise a second set of inserts, wherein the inserts of the second set of inserts are configured to provide the fan blades with a second angle of attack when the inserts of the second set and the mounting tabs are inserted in the hollow interiors of the fan blades.

Cross coupling from the externally energized winding (E1) excites the other excitation winding (E2).     Abstract: A brushless d.c. motor is integrated with a conveyor roller (14) by placing a plurality of stator coils (15) on a stationary shaft (18) and securing a rotor (10) with segments (12) of permanent magnetic material to the inside of the conveyor roller (14). In one embodiment the rotor (10) is directly secured to the roller while in a second embodiment, the rotor (10) is disposed inside of a cylindrical metal housing (40) that is press fit inside of the roller. Commutation is provided by an external motor controller (54) which is connected by conductors (37) through a passageway (36) in the shaft (18) to a circuit board (20), where sensors (23) are mounted to sense rotor position for purposes of commutation of the stator coils (15).
