Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for intelligent notification of a request for real-time online interaction.SOLUTION: The method for intelligent processing of a request for real-time online interaction comprises receiving, by a computing device, a request for real-time online interaction which is directed to a recipient identifier associated with a recipient device of a recipient and originates from a requestor device of a requestor. The method further comprises determining, by the computing device, an interruption indicator which indicates a recipient activity priority relative to a delivery priority of the request for real-time online interaction. The method additionally comprises delivering a notification of the request for real-time online interaction to the recipient device of the recipient, responsive to the interruption indicator indicating that the delivery priority of the request for real-time online interaction exceeds the recipient activity priority.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining group presence. SOLUTION: A processor receives a presence event (604) and the processor determines a hierarchy associated with the presence event in response to the presence event. The hierarchy is associated with a group having a plurality of nodes (606). The processor examines the hierarchy associated with the group up to a prescribed node (608). The processor determines the presence of the prescribed node (610). The processor determines whether another node is present in the group in the hierarchy (612) and, when another node is not present in the hierarchy of the group, determines the group presence on the basis of the presence of the node in the hierarchy (614). The processor issues the group presence (616). COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for potentially increasing sales of a retail organization using location-based technology. SOLUTION: The illustrative embodiment comprises a location-aware application that can infer when a first customer is potentially interested in purchasing a particular item during a visit to a retail location, and can infer when a second customer (e.g. a customer who has previously purchased the item) who is familiar with the item is present in the retail location. When such a match occurs, the second customer is notified of the presence of the first customer, and of the first customer's potential interest in purchasing the item, and is encouraged to provide assistance to the first customer (e.g. to discuss features of the item with the first customer, to discuss advantages of the item in comparison to other items, etc.). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for providing selection, sequencing and elimination of communication module, based on a parameter determined when communication is initiated. SOLUTION: According to the method and the system, the sequencing of the module is determined on the basis of standard determined on receipt of its connection. The standard serves as the attribute of the connection. As a result, a following message attributive to the connection has an identical module sequence. However, the module sequence to each message can be performed without re-determination by analyzing characteristics to each message. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a contact manager relative to a communication session appearing in a GUI. SOLUTION: The method has steps of: (A) grouping, by context, contact destinations, which relate to users relative to communication sessions being displayed as groups of graphical elements representing the communication sessions, and being either the current communication sessions or proposed communication sessions; (B) displaying at least some of the contact destinations, which are divided into the groups, on a graphical user interface; (C) receiving user input relative to one of the contact destinations, which are divided into groups, and the communication sessions; and (D) operating the communication sessions on the basis of the user input and the one contact destination concerned. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for managing a communication session of a virtual meeting room by a computer. SOLUTION: The method includes steps for: (A) establishing a persistent virtual meeting room communication session which includes shared resources available to virtual meeting room communication session participants; (B) displaying a set of connected graphical elements representing a structure of the virtual meeting room communication session to the meeting participants via a graphical user interface (GUI); (C) receiving input, which is associated with the set of connected graphical elements, from one of the meeting participants; and (D) performing an action, which is included in the input and associated with the virtual meeting room communication session, based on the received user input. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement a pluggable extension.SOLUTION: Methods, devices and systems are provided which are applied to a unique set of a user population to handle their preferred and user-centric alerting relationships. The pluggable extension allows a user to have their personalized contact resolution algorithm applied by a server to calls initiated by them or directed toward them. The contact resolution algorithm is pluggable to any server and does not need to be built into the server itself. Moreover, multiple users can refer to and use the same pluggable contact resolution algorithm.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a split-plane mobility network architecture which separates control and data plane operations typically encapsulated in a conventional wireless controller. SOLUTION: Configurations provide a unified split-plane mobility switch that separates the data transport and switching in a separate hardware element, and performs control plane operations via exchanges with a centralized topology, rather than simply by adjacent switches within range. In contrast to conventional switch deployment, in which the same switch handles processing demands of the control plane and the data plane, the disclosed approach separates the data plane processing base by employing a mobility agent to define adjacent switch visibility. Thus, the routing capabilities of the data plane may be enhanced, such as to handle increasingly bandwidth-hungry applications of the same user base, without uprooting the infrastructure defined by the control plane. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed call control system that can allot bandwidth amongst several call controllers. SOLUTION: The distributed call control system includes one or more servers that execute two or more instances of call processing servers that administer call control. The call processing servers form a cluster or group. The cluster members negotiate and determine bandwidth allocation amongst the members. If a member requires more bandwidth, the call processing server, of that member, assesses its own needs and requests more bandwidth from other members. The negotiation and requests for bandwidth are accomplished with a set of dynamic and static bandwidth data that regiment the control of the bandwidth. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods, devices and systems for facilitating an ad-hoc conference. SOLUTION: A method for facilitating an ad-hoc conference employs a "join-us" concept that links functionality in non-real-time messaging systems with a real-time ongoing state of call information in a communications network 104. Thus, the spontaneity and security of an ad-hoc conference call are combined with the join-as-you-can nature of messaging and reservation of conference bridges. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
