Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish communication between nodes in a system in which an optional assembly of nodes along a system bus is changed to a non-cyclic directed graph. SOLUTION: A structure bus access arbitration system, a priority bus access arbitration system, a token passing bus arbitration system and a pre-emptive bus initialization setting mechanism, etc. are executed. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide various modes of control and/or presentation of information relating to time-based media such as a movie. SOLUTION: A method is provided for generating an interface for display for controlling the processing of time-based media data. A first set of data representing a graphical user interface as a primary window is generated and displayed. A second set of data representing a drawer window is generated. The second set of data contains objects such as representations (e.g. icons) of "favorites" or "channels" media. The drawer window appears to be part of the primary window, and slides under the primary window when the drawer window is closed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish communication between respective nodes in the system where an arbitrary assembly of nodes on a system bus is resolved into an acyclic directed graph. SOLUTION: A configuration bus access arbitration scheme, a priority bus access arbitration scheme, a token passing bus arbitration scheme and a preemptive bus initialization mechanism, etc. are implemented. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a laptop personal computer which is capable of rationally performing a key input to a keyboard and point/click of a cursor. SOLUTION: This laptop personal computer is configured as follows: a keyboard is adjacently arranged to a display screen on a main housing where a display housing is turnably coupled; a palm supporting portion is positioned on the top of the main housing near to a user from the keyboard; and a cursor control unit is arranged in the palm support portion such that both hands of the user reaches the cursor control unit during an operation state of the keyboard. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for calling a program procedure, and switching the performances of a plurality of object code types having various restrictions for a stack operation, and also to provide its device. SOLUTION: A computer system includes: a routine describer; a stack switch frame; a mode switching mechanism for switching a code or call restriction type from a first processor to a second processor; and a means for performing the instructions of the various code types. The routine describer describes a program, or the code segment, the code type, and the call restriction. In encountering the instructions, control is transferred to the mode switching mechanism. When a routine calls the routine including another stack model, the mode switching mechanism uses the stack switch frame in order to provide transfer between the two stack types. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for a help interface useful in a window based display system. SOLUTION: Access and presentation windows are provided, which "float" above all other layered windows being displayed regardless of the application currently being executed by the user. Both the access and presentation windows remain active and may be operated upon by the user, as does the top most window immediately below the access or presentation windows being displayed. The access window of the present window includes an alpha scroll bar horizontally spanning a defined area of the access window. A plurality of characters are displayed along the length of the alpha scroll bar. A slider is provided which may be selectively positioned over a character displayed on the alpha scroll bar. The placement of the slider over a character on the alpha scroll bar results in the CPU displaying data corresponding to the character selected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input display unit capable of detecting both a location of contact, and force applied at contact. SOLUTION: A unit to provide both force and location detection includes a first transparent substrate (having first and second sets of conductive traces oriented in a first direction), a second transparent substrate (having a third set of conductive traces oriented in a second direction) and a plurality of deformable members (e.g., rubber beads) arranged between the first and second transparent substrates. The first set of conductive traces, in combination with the conductive traces of the second transparent element, provide a capacitance signal representing where a user touches the display element. The second set of conductive traces, in combination with the conductive traces of the second transparent element, provide a capacitance signal representing the amount of force applied to the display element. When used with a display element, an input-output unit capable of both location sensing and force sensing operations is provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a force measuring system as a part of a touch pad input device. SOLUTION: A force imaging touch pad includes first and second sets of conductive traces separated by a spring membrane. When a force is applied, the spring membrane is deformed moving the two sets of traces closer together. The resulting change in mutual capacitance is used to generate an image indicative of the amount or intensity of the applied force. A combined location and force imaging touch pad includes two sets of drive traces, one set of sense traces and the spring membrane. In operation, one of the drive traces is used in combination with the set of sense traces to generate an image of where one or more objects touch the touch pad. The second set of drive traces is used in combination with the sense traces and spring membrane to generate an image of the applied force's strength or intensity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and efficiently convert a Japanese hiragana character string to a katakana character string. SOLUTION: An exemplary method includes: receiving a first character string having the source character string; dividing the first character string into a plurality of sub-strings; converting the plurality of the sub-strings to second character strings through a dictionary; creating third character strings corresponding to the plurality of the sub-strings; analyzing the second and third character strings; constructing fourth character strings from the second and third character strings; creating a candidate list based on the fourth character strings; selecting the target character string from the candidate list and outputting the target character string.
