The hydraulic piston unit further includes a control valve with a shiftable control valve spool fluidly connected via a high pressure port to a high pressure side of the hydraulic piston unit. Abstract: A servo piston having an elongated member with a first end and a second end. The second end has a servo piston head disposed within a servo piston bore. The servo piston head has at least two grooves disposed about an outer edge of the servo piston head. At last one sealing ring is received within each groove. The use of rings in at least two grooves reduces side/transversal vibration and the servo bore load. At the same time, the space between the two grooves creates a pressurized oil squeeze film between the servo piston head and servo piston bore, sealed by the rings, which provides both a sealing and damping function at the same time.

Abstract: A speed control system for a hydrostatic transmission includes an engine having a drive shaft connected to a hydraulic pump. At least one hydrostatic motor is connected to the pump in a closed circuit by a flow line. Connected to the motor via a system shaft is a vehicle system. A controller is connected to a plurality of sensors and a high pressure relief valve that is connected to the flow line between the pump and the motor. Based on information received from the sensors, the controller sets the pump and motor displacements to limit the pressure to a value that will not overspeed the engine and allow the system to automatically provide braking beyond the engine's capability. This may be accomplished through the use of various algorithms.
