Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unit and method, for feeding additive elements into fibrous material on an apparatus for producing smoking articles, which are cheap and easy to implement.SOLUTION: On an apparatus for producing smoking articles, such as cigarette filters, a feed unit for feeding additive elements 25, such as menthol capsules, into fibrous material, such as filtering material, has at least one hopper 26 containing a mass of additive elements; and a transfer device 28 which, at the input, withdraws the additive elements 25 successively from an outlet 27 of the hopper, and, at the output, deposits the additive elements 25 successively into the fibrous material. Between the input and output, the transfer device increases the spacing between consecutive additive elements, so as to withdraw the additive elements from the hopper with a pickup spacing, and deposit the additive elements 25 into the fibrous material with an out-feed spacing greater than the pickup spacing.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a strip of packing material from curling by itself after embossing. SOLUTION: An assembly for an embossing has two embossing rollers (6, 7), rotating about their respective axes of rotation (9, 10) to emboss the strip (5) of packing material which, in use, is fed along an embossing plane (A), substantially tangent to the two rollers (6, 7), and through an embossing passage (13) defined between the two rollers (6, 7); the axes of rotation (9, 10) being skewed with respect to each other and substantially parallel to the embossing plane (A). Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for packing a product in at least one sheet composed of a packing material which can be implemented easily at low cost and can bring a high productivity and provide a machine for the method. SOLUTION: A machine 1 for packing a product 3 in a sheet 5, 6, 7 has a number of conveyors 13, 19, 25, 39, each of which has a number of pockets 12, 22, 28, 42, each for receiving and conveying a respective product. The products are transferred from each releasing conveyor to the next receiving conveyor at a transfer station 51, 55, 57 defined between the two conveyors and the pockets on each conveyor are divided into a first number N1 of groups, each containing an equal second number N2, greater than one, of pockets and a second number N2 of products are transferred simultaneously from the pockets in a group of pockets on the releasing conveyor to the pockets in a group of pockets on the receiving conveyor at the transfer station.
