Abstract:
A redundant and diverse secondary control system mirrors a primary control system but has some fundamental structural difference as compared to the primary control system to prevent a spread of a security breach from the primary control system to the secondary control system. The secondary control system may operate on different hardware built on different software written with different programming language as compared to the primary control system while performing the same function as that of the primary system. By hardware coding the algorithm to produce actuation signals, software based viruses and worms cannot interfere with the secondary control system's operation. A monitor device receives actuation signals from both the primary and secondary controls signals to determine whether an error occurred and to provide correct actuation signals to the controlled system.
Abstract:
A myocardial blood flow analysis scan includes incorporating a pharmacological kinetic model with the standard factor analysis model where each time activity curve is assumed to be a linear combination of factor curves. Pharmacological kinetics based factor analysis of dynamic structures (K-FADS) model can be applied, whereby a means for estimating factor curves in the myocardium that are physiologically meaningful is provided. Additional optional aspects include performing a discretization to transform continuous-time K-FADS model into a discretetime K-FADS model and application of an iterative Voxel-Resolution myocardial blood flow (V-MBF) algorithm. A V-MBF algorithm based on a model that accounts for the fact that the shape of TACs due to ischemic and normal tissue are different can be included.
Abstract:
A distance from a measurement point to a fault in a three-phase circuit is determined. The measurement point is located at an output of a power sub-station and the three phase circuit has a loop circuit having an associated net fault line current and a ground current. A derivative of the net fault line current of the loop circuit as measured from the measurement point is calculated. An uncompensated distance to the sub-cycle fault using at least the derivative of the net fault current is determined, and configured, to compensate for the ground current of the loop circuit. The compensation is applied to the uncompensated distance to produce a compensated distance to the sub-cycle fault.
Abstract:
Compounds are provided herein which are emetine derivatives that can be used as prodrugs which selectively undergo activation to release emetine in specific cellular conditions. In one aspect, a blocking group is incorporated onto the emetine molecule by the derivization of the N2′-position with moieties that can be selectively removed by hydrolysis in the cancer/tumor microenvironment. Such compounds are less cytotoxic than emetine and are substantially inactive in non-cancerous cells. In one aspect, the compounds described herein can be used for the treatment of metastatic and non-metastatic cancers, including, for example, breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, and leukemia.
Abstract:
Data associated with at least one building condition or status is sensed by one or more sensors. The data from these sensors may be sent over a data bus and received by the central computer. In addition, a modulated signal may be transmitted by one or both of the transmitters across the data bus. The modulated signal is received at the receiver, which analyzes the received modulated signal, and determines whether an intermittent fault has occurred on the data bus based upon the analyzing. For example, the receiver may compare the received signal to an expected pattern and when a discrepancy exists, an intermittent fault is determined to exist. The receiver may also determine the location of the fault based upon the analysis.

An infrared external photoemissive detector can have an n-p heterojunction comprising an n-type semiconductor layer and a p-layer; the n-layer semiconductor comprising doped silicon embedded with nanoparticles forming Schottky barriers; and the p-layer is a p-type diamond film. The nanoparticles can be about 20 - 30 atomic percentage metal particles (such as silver) having an average particle size of about 5 - 10 nm. The p-layer can have a surface layer that has a negative electron affinity. The n-layer can be in the range of about 3 µm to 10 µm thick, and preferably about 3 µm thick. The doped silicon can be doped with elements selected from the list consisting of phosphorus and antimony.

This disclosure relates to vaccine formulations comprising an immunogenic composition for inducing antibodies to both S. pneumoniae and N. meningitides in a subject. In a preferred aspect, the immunogenic composition comprises covalently conjugated recombinant PsaA ("rPsaA") from S. pneumoniae and capsular polysaccharide from N. meningitidis serogroup C. This disclosure further relates to methods for producing the immunogenic composition as well as methods for their use.

The signals that have been transmitted are received by the at least one single receiver at a single receiver positioned within the electrical network. At the single receiver, the received signals are analyzed and a determination from the analyzing the received signals is made as to whether a fault has occurred in the electrical network.
