Abstract: A method of forming a composite particulate material by Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) comprises: contacting fluidised particles of a first material with a precursor gas in the presence of a catalyst in a reaction chamber of a fluidised bed reactor at a pressure greater than about 100 Torr; and heating the reaction chamber to a temperature at which the precursor gas, in the presence of the catalyst, decomposes to deposit nanostructures of a second material onto the fluidised particles of the first material. The method is particularly suited to the large-scale production of composite particulate materials.
