Abstract:
A sound-attenuating enclosure for a portable machine. The enclosure includes an inner shell, an outer shell, and a duct. The inner shell includes an inner air inlet opening. The duct connects the outer air inlet opening and the inner air inlet opening, while preventing a line-of-sight between the outer air inlet opening and the inner air inlet opening.
Abstract:
An operator station is for a compacting vehicle having a frame and at least one compacting drum connected with the frame. The station includes a base plate rotatably connected with the frame and an operator cab slidably connected with the base plate. The cab includes a housing bounding an interior chamber and an operator seat disposed within the chamber. A first actuator is configured to linearly displace the housing with respect to the base plate along a horizontal axis and a second actuator is configured to rotatably displace the base plate about a vertical axis. The cab is linearly displaceable along the horizontal axis between most proximal and most distal positions with respect to the vertical axis and the base plate is rotatably displaceable between a first position where a front wall faces toward a vehicle front and a second position where the front wall faces toward a vehicle side.
Abstract:
A fluid distribution system comprising a hollow pipe section having at least one bore extending longitudinally therethrough. At least one longitudinal boss extends along the pipe section. An end fitting comprises a body configured to be received in the bore and a shoulder extending radially from the body. At least one bolt hole extends through the shoulder and is configured to align with the at least one longitudinal boss. A secondary component is configured for connection to the end fitting. Alternatively, an outlet plate fitting is configured for attaching a secondary component to a fluid pipe section. The fluid pipe section includes opposed flanges that define a receiving groove. The outlet plate fitting comprises a main body and an engagement platform having a planar surface with a seal member. Rotation of the engagement platform within the receiving groove causes the planar surface and seal member into sealing engagement within the receiving groove.
Abstract:
A telescoping sub (50) for mining operations and the like. The telescoping sub (50) includes a rotor (94) portion couplable to the rotary head of a drilling rig, and a stator (74) portion that is couplable to a drill rod. The rotor (94) portion is slideably coupled to the stator (74) portion and is moveable with respect thereto between an extended position and a retracted position. With the telescoping sub (50) in the retracted position, the drilling rig is operated to drill to a first depth. The drilling rig is then operated to move the rotor (94) portion to the extended position, and the drilling rig is operated to drill to a second depth that is greater than the first depth.
Abstract:
An air compressor assembly of the rotary screw type. The air compressor assembly comprises a housing (20) having an inlet end (22) and a discharge end (24). An internal working chamber (26) extends within the housing and terminates in a discharge end face(27) at the discharge end of the housing. At least one rotor (40) is mounted for rotation and axial movement within the working chamber (26). The rotor has a discharge end surface (41) having a step defined thereon. A thrust piston (46) extends from the rotor and is positioned within a thrust piston chamber (48). A pressure source is associated with the thrust piston chamber (48) and is controllable between a high pressure condition and a reduced pressure condition to control the position of the rotor (40) relative to the discharge end face (27). A method of mounting a rotor with a desired end clearance is also provided.
Abstract:
A removable guide member for guiding drill string components in a drill hole includes an elongated body having a centerline axis with a bore extending along the axis. The body terminates in a head end having a preselected radial dimension with respect to the centerline axis. The guide member is adapted to be threadably connected to adjoining drill string components. The head end radial dimension is preselected to space an outer surface thereof in close proximity to a drill hole sidewall, so that if the drill string begins to deviate out of alignment, the outer surface of the head end will contact the drill hole sidewall to stabilize alignment. The guide member can be inserted into any position along the drill string.
Abstract:
A drill rod has a first and second threaded end. The threads on the two ends have a different thread pitch so as to provide a different degree of joint tightness (torque) when the ends are threaded into a matching coupling. The different degree of joint tightness at each rod end causes a breaking of the joint connection in a predictable sequence, thereby facilitating drill string removal from a drill hole. An alternate embodiment achieves a different degree of joint tightness by having different thread lengths at each end of the drill rod and coupling, instead of different thread pitches.
Abstract:
A pneumatic motor (10) including a motor body (12) having a piston chamber (16) with opposed chamber ends, at least two valve chambers (34, 36), an inlet (38) for flowing a pressurized fluid into the piston chamber (16) and each of the at least two valve chambers (34, 36), a number of outlets provided in the housing for exhausting the pressurized fluid from the piston chamber (16) and each of the at least two valve chambers. The motor also includes a three-way valve member adapted (120) to be located in each of the at least two valve chambers (34, 36), the valve members each have at least one open end and at least one port formed along the valve member body. A spool member is located in one of said valve chambers, each spool member has a first end adapted to be located in the open end of the valve member. The spool members (96, 98) are adapted to be movable in a first direction relative to the valve member to permit pressurized fluid to be supplied to the piston chamber and also in a second direction relative to the valve member to permit the pressurized fluid in the piston chamber to be exhausted from the chamber. A piston (76) is movable in a reciprocating manner in the main chamber (16) in response to movement by the spools (96, 98) relative to the three-way valve members (120).
Abstract:
An earth compactor is propelled by a hydraulic circuit that includes a first hydraulic motor (36) to drive a drum member (15) and a second hydraulic motor (32) to drive a tractor member mounted on tires (7), with a traction control system that includes a motor speed sensing device (44, 46) on each hydraulic motor (36, 32). The speed sensing devices (44, 46) transmit electrical signals to a microcontroller (42), which compares the speeds and varies the speed of the tires (7) or drum (15) to maintain a preselected ratio between the two, thereby maintaining traction of both members.
Abstract:
A method for visually multiplexing video information presentation system permits obscured windows to be continuously updated, which, when revealed, will present the new contents within the window without requiring a host system to redraw all obscured window areas. The system operates by holding the contents of each window's pixels in separate areas of memory. The displayed screen is a mosaic of pixels chosen based on a pixel position ownership table that is maintained by the system as screen commands are sent by the host.
