Abstract:
Plantsurface structure, comprising one of an array of plastic base elements, each base element having a deck carried by a series of pillar elements, wherein the deck is provided with at least a number of the pillar elements have an open top end in said deck, wherein at least a membrane is placed over said deck and is provided with slits or cut-outs or water permeable elements, such that they open into at least some of the open top ends of pillars, wherein a growing medium is provided on the membrane and a growing medium is provided in said pillars, the growing medium in said pillars preferably being in fluid contact with the growing medium on said membrane.
Abstract:
Floor for animals such as cattle, comprising a base structure and a top layer, wherein the top layer is permeable to fluid portions of animal faeces and/or animal urine, but impermeable to solid parts of the animal faeces, wherein the base structure comprises voids for receiving said fluid portions and/or urine passing through the top layer, wherein the base structure comprises an array base elements forming a substantially continuous deck supporting the top layer, wherein the deck is arranged for passing said fluids into internal volumes of the base elements forming said voids, the internal volumes of at least a number of said base elements being in fluid communication with each other, preferably such that fluids received in said internal volumes can be removed from the base elements by flow through said internal volumes.
Abstract:
A drainage element 10 is provided comprising at least one liquid holding part 11 provided with a liquid inlet and a liquid outlet 12, wherein, in use, the drainage element is placed substantially adjacent to at least one other drainage element, and liquid is constrained to enter the liquid holding part of the drainage element via the liquid inlet and is constrained to exit the liquid holding part of the drainage element via the liquid outlet, and liquid is prevented by the liquid holding part from flowing from the drainage element to the at least one other drainage element.
Abstract:
A structural module (10) for use in water irrigation, water drainage, water retention and water filtering systems, comprises a load bearing base unit (10) and porous material (15), wherein the base unit has a top wall (11) and a bottom wall (12) spaced therefrom by one or more supporting elements (13, 20) so as to define a volume between the top and bottom walls. The base unit being provided with apertures (17, 18, 19) to permit the flow of liquid into and out of the volume. The porous material is a block (15) foamed polymeric material which occupies a substantial portion of the volume within the base unit and absorbs and retains water that passes through the apertures.
Abstract:
Sports field, comprising a base structure and a cover, wherein the cover is at least partly permeable to fluid, especially water, wherein the base structure comprises voids for containing fluid, wherein the base structure forms a substantially continuous deck supporting the cover, wherein the cover comprises or is formed by an artificial sports layer, such as artificial grass, at least a number of said voids being in fluid communication with each other, and wherein wick elements are provided fluidly connecting at least a number of said voids with said cover for supplying fluid from said voids to said top layer.
Abstract:
A channel system (1) is provided for drainage of water, comprising a channel (10), a plurality of grating components (14, 16) for fitting to the channel to form an enclosed channel system, the grating components (14, 16) comprising a first grating (14) and a second grating (16). The first grating (14) is moveable between an unlocked position in which it is removable from the channel (10) and a locked position in which it is retained by the channel (10). Positioning of the second grating (16) on the channel (10) retains the first grating (14) in the locked position. A method of constructing such a channel system is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A product for the retention and degradation of at least one pollutant substance, comprising a hydrophobic material (1), a hydrophilic material (2), and at least one interface (3) between the materials. The hydrophobic material receives and retains at least some of the pollutant substance, and the hydrophilic material supports the formation of a biofilm by supplying water therefor, which biofilm degrades at least some of the pollutant substance retained by the hydrophobic material. The hydrophobic material and the hydrophilic material may comprise a geotextile material. The pollutant substance may comprise one or more mineral oils comprised in water. The hydrophobic material may receive the pollutant substance and the water, and may retain at least some of the pollutant substance and pass at least some of the water. At least some of the pollutant substance is thereby removed from the water passing through the hydrophobic material. The hydrophilic material may support the formation of the biofilm at, at least, the interface between the materials, by supplying water for the biofilm. The product may be used in a permeable pavement system comprising a plurality of paving blocks, laid on at least one bedding material, which in turn is laid on at least one product, which in turn is laid on at least one base material.
