Abstract: Torsional vibration damper (1;20;30;40;50) which is suitable for dampenin g the motion of a rotatable element, said torsional vibration damper compris ing an "actuation" element (3) which is connectable to the rotatable element , an "inertia" element (5) arranged co-axially and rotatably with said actua tion element, an enclosed volume (8) between said inertia element and said a ctuation element where a cross section through said enclosed volume taken on a plane which is parallel to the axis of the actuation element comprises at least one "axial" portion (11 ) which is arranged essentially parallel to t he axis of the actuation element, an Electro-Rheological or a Magneto-Rheolo gical fluid (9) arranged at least in a part of said enclosed volume, and an electric or a magnetic field generator (7) in the form of a coil which gener ates an electric or a magnetic field which passes through at least a portion of said enclosed volume. The field generator is integrated into the torsion al vibration damper in such a way that a majority of the magnetic or electri c field lines (12) generated by the field generator pass through said "axial " portion of said enclosed volume. In this way, an effective torsional vibra tion damper is provided.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a catalyst system in particular a catalyst system comprising Palladium (Pd), a zwitterion and/or an acid-functionalized ionic liquid, and one or more phosphine ligands, wherein the Pd catalyst can be provided by a complex precursor, such as Pd(CH3COO)2, PdCl2, Pd(CH3COCHCOCH3), Pd(CF3COO)2, Pd(PPh3)4 or Pd2(dibenzylideneacetone)3. Such catalyst systems can be used for e.g. alkoxycarbonylation reactions, carboxylation reactions, and/or in a co-polymerization reaction, e.g. in the production of methyl propionate and/or propanoic acid, optionally in processes forming methyl methacrylate and/or methacrylic acid. Catalyst systems according to the invention are suitable for reactions forming separable product and catalyst phases and supported ionic liquid phase SILP applications.
