Abstract:
Vaccines are provided for vaccinating an animal against pathogenic bacteria, including E. coli. The invention also encompasses methods of preparing and methods of use of vaccine strains and compositions that result from or are used in these methods.
Abstract:
Novel Haemophilus somnus immunogenic proteins are disclosed. The proteins can be used in vaccine compositions for the prevention and treatment of H. somnus infections. The proteins are conveniently produced using recombinant technology.
Abstract:
New immunological carrier complexes are provided utilizing the VP6 polypeptide from rotavirus as the carrier molecule. Also provided are methods of binding epitope-bearing molecules (e.g., haptens) to the VP6 carrier molecule through binding peptides. The VP6 carrier can be a VP6 monomer, oligomer, or a particle comprises of VP6 oligomers.
Abstract:
Methods and oligonucleotide reagents for detecting Neisseria gonorrhoeae, as well as for detecting N. gonorrhoeae isolates and strains resistant to antimicrobials, are described. Sequences of various antibiotic resistance markers in a variety of bacteria in addition to N. gonorrhoeae are provided.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention provides conductive polymers comprising metal-containing nucleic acid duplexes electrically coupled to an electron source. Methods for making conductive metal-containing nucleic acid duplexes are provided, comprising subjecting a nucleic acid duplex to basic conditions in the presence of a divalent metal cation. Methods of using conductive metal-containing nucleic acid duplexes are provided, including methods of genomic analysis, methods of molecular screening and immunological methods that produce antibodies to such molecules.
Abstract:
The complete nucleotide sequence of the genome of porcine adenovirus type 3 (PAV-3) is provided. Methods for construction of infectious PAV genomes by homologous recombination in procaryotic cells are provided. Recombinant PAV viruses are obtained by transfection of mammalian cells with recombinant PAV genomes. The PAV-3 genome can be used as a vector for the expression of heterologous nucleotide sequences, for example, for the preparation and administration of subunit vaccines to swine or other mammals. In addition, PAV-3 vectors can be used for gene therapy and expression of heterologous polypeptides. PAV-3 genome sequences can also be used for diagnostic purposes, to detect the presence of PAV-3 DNA in a subject or biological sample.
Abstract:
The cloning of a novel PCVII viral genome is described as is expression of proteins derived from the PCVII genome. These proteins can be used in vaccine compositions for the prevention and treatment of PCVII infections, as well as in diagnostic methods for determining the presence of PCVII infections in a vertebrate subject. Polynucleotides derived from the viral genome can be used as diagnostic primers and probes.
