Abstract:
There is disclosed a fabric panel comprising a main portion and an edge portion, in which the thickness of the main portion is greater than the thickness of the edge portion.
Abstract:
A method of measuring froth stability (as described herein) of a froth in a cell of a flotation circuit for a slurry of a mined mineral containing valuable material and gangue materials is disclosed. The method includes a step of measuring one or more than one froth stability parameter using a measurement column arranged to extend downwardly through the froth in the cell to a location below an interface between the froth and the slurry in the cell. A method of controlling the operation of a flotation cell that is based on the froth stability measurement method is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A joint between two hollow pipes (1, 2) is formed by inserting the pipes (1, 2) into the sleeve (100). The sleeve (100) is made of a similar or compatible material to that of the pipes (1, 2) which are to be joined. The pipes (1, 2) are held in position while the sleeve (100) is rotated. Due to the rotational and tangentional sheer stresses produced between the surfaces of the sleeve (100) and the pipes (1, 2) the multilayers for these surfaces form a uniform mixture. This mixing action eliminates the weld line present in known systems.
Abstract:
An extrusion apparatus (10) comprises an orientation control section (11), an exit portion (12) and an entry portion (13). The orientation control section (11) comprises an outer member (14) and an inner member (15). The inner surface of the outer member (14) is formed into a channel (16), which extends radially outwardly into the outer member (14), and is separated axially by lands (14a). The inner member (15) is formed into a similar channel (17). A space exists between the respective opposite surfaces of the members. The inner member (15) is rotatable, and in use as material passes through the space formed between members (14, 15), the material assumes an orientation due to the presence of the channel (16, 17).

Abstract:
Apparatus for the micro-analysis or imaging of a sample comprises: (a) an arrangement for producing a scanning micro-focussed neutral atom beam said arrangement itself comprising; (i) means (1) for generating an ion beam, (ii) means (4) for for scanning the ion beam, (iii) means (5) for focussing the ion beam towards the position at which the sample (8) will be located; and (iv) charge exchange means (6) between the focussing means and the sample position whereby a scanning neutral beam focussing on the sample is produced; and (b) detection means (9) for detecting particles emitted from the sample.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Polyether polyols are produced by the oxyalkylation of a polyhydroxy compound by a method in which a salt of the polyhydroxy compound is initially prepared and the by-products of salt formation are substantially completely removed prior to reaction of the salt with an alkylene oxide. For preference, the salt formation reaction is effected by dissolving the polyhydroxy compound in a nitrogen containing heterocyclic solvent (most preferably N-methyl pyrrolidone) and reacting the polyhydroxy compound with an alkali metal alkoxide to form the salt. The by-product alcohol of this reaction is then removed by distillation or evaporation prior to reaction of the salt with the alkylene oxide.
