    Abstract: An improved chemical probe for the detection of the amino acid citrulline combines: 1) a reactive head formed of 1,3-dicarbonyl moiety that reacts with a citrulline side chain in an improved manner compared to currently used 1,2-dicarbonyl moieties; and 2) a modular action of the probe where citrulline side chains are labeled first using reactive heads described above, and attachment of a read-out subunit or tag, be it a fluorophore, a nanoparticle, or an antigen is performed separately. The modular nature of the chemical probe increases the sensitivity of the probes due to their smaller size. Additionally, the chemical probes of the present disclosure allow the same sample to be analyzed using a variety of read-out methods.

    Abstract: A dispersing agent or dispersant formed as a block copolymer for use in surface coating compositions, such as architectural paint compositions, that can alter its properties as a result of changes in environmental conditions is provided. These stimuli -responsive copolymers are synthesized with properties that can be controlled based on number of blocks and block length and/or as a function of pH and temperature. The addition of these copolymers to coating compositions including other additives, such as pigments and/or fillers, can decrease settling rate, control viscosity, and control interfacial activity of the additives in the compositions.

    Abstract: A golf swing improvement tool is provide that attaches to a golf club, and includes a guide arm contacting the leading forearm of a golfer. An offset arm allows the guide arm to be offset laterally from the longitudinal axis of the golf club. The user adjusts the offset distance to give a specific leading arm-to-club relationship. If the club moves ahead of the desired relationship with the leading arm during the swing, the user will be alerted to this error by the guide arm loosing contact with the forearm.

The materials show good transparency and are chemically uniform, that is, they consist of a single chemical component.     Abstract: The preset invention is a hierarchically- structured carbon microbead and method for forming the microbead utilizing hydrothermal carbonization of a biomass/catalyst mixture to produce partially carbonized amorphous microspheres, wherein the biomass is an inexpensive material containing a high oxygen content component (e.g., sugar, starch, alcohol), and the catalyst is a metal or metal-containing compound, preferably a transition metal compound, and more specifically a transition metal selected from Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, and Pt. Subsequently, a heat treatment is performed where the amorphous microspheres are heated to a temperature that is sufficiently high so as to result in carbonization, graphitization, and production of a carbonaceous coating or shell on the core of the microbead.
