Abstract:
A caustic paste applicator provides a self-contained adhesive patch that supports a ring of adhesive that is adhered to the calf s skin around the horn bud and an inner spot or dab of caustic paste that is applied over the horn bud to contact the horn bud. The patch shields the caustic paste from spreading and allows the adhesive to be used in conjunction with the caustic paste in a manner which does not cause the patch to lose its stickiness.
Abstract:
An improved chemical probe for the detection of the amino acid citrulline combines: 1) a reactive head formed of 1,3-dicarbonyl moiety that reacts with a citrulline side chain in an improved manner compared to currently used 1,2-dicarbonyl moieties; and 2) a modular action of the probe where citrulline side chains are labeled first using reactive heads described above, and attachment of a read-out subunit or tag, be it a fluorophore, a nanoparticle, or an antigen is performed separately. The modular nature of the chemical probe increases the sensitivity of the probes due to their smaller size. Additionally, the chemical probes of the present disclosure allow the same sample to be analyzed using a variety of read-out methods.
Abstract:
A dispersing agent or dispersant formed as a block copolymer for use in surface coating compositions, such as architectural paint compositions, that can alter its properties as a result of changes in environmental conditions is provided. These stimuli -responsive copolymers are synthesized with properties that can be controlled based on number of blocks and block length and/or as a function of pH and temperature. The addition of these copolymers to coating compositions including other additives, such as pigments and/or fillers, can decrease settling rate, control viscosity, and control interfacial activity of the additives in the compositions.
Abstract:
A golf swing improvement tool is provide that attaches to a golf club, and includes a guide arm contacting the leading forearm of a golfer. An offset arm allows the guide arm to be offset laterally from the longitudinal axis of the golf club. The user adjusts the offset distance to give a specific leading arm-to-club relationship. If the club moves ahead of the desired relationship with the leading arm during the swing, the user will be alerted to this error by the guide arm loosing contact with the forearm.
Abstract:
A series of materials that exhibit a range of dilatant properties have been synthesized. The materials show good transparency and are chemically uniform, that is, they consist of a single chemical component. The dilatant properties likely are due to the presence of both aggregated and non-aggregated forms of the oligomers. The degree of dilatancy can be modified by adjusting the monomer composition. The range of dilatant properties, good transparency, and single chemical component nature of the dilatant samples make these materials of particular interest.

A printable refractory material is provided having a liquid and powder component configured for use in a 3-D powder printer, where the material forms hydraulic bonds when the liquid and powder components are combined. Methods of printing the refractory material and forming castings therefrom are also provided.

The preset invention is a hierarchically- structured carbon microbead and method for forming the microbead utilizing hydrothermal carbonization of a biomass/catalyst mixture to produce partially carbonized amorphous microspheres, wherein the biomass is an inexpensive material containing a high oxygen content component (e.g., sugar, starch, alcohol), and the catalyst is a metal or metal-containing compound, preferably a transition metal compound, and more specifically a transition metal selected from Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, and Pt. Subsequently, a heat treatment is performed where the amorphous microspheres are heated to a temperature that is sufficiently high so as to result in carbonization, graphitization, and production of a carbonaceous coating or shell on the core of the microbead.

The present invention provides compositions and methods of using stereospecific benzodiazepine derivatives, their salts and prodrugs for the treatment of anxiolytic or convulsant disorders having the side effects of reduced alcohol craving in human alcoholics and a concomitant reduced sedative, hypnotic, muscle relaxant and ataxic side-effects. The invention further provides pharmaceutical compositions for treatment of anxiolytic and convulsant disorders in subjects in need thereof, comprising a compound, prodrug or a salt having a chemical structure represented by any one of Formula I-XXI and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.

An electrical parameter imaging apparatus and method includes the acquisition of a charge distribution pattern on an array of electrodes that surround an object being imaged. In addition the exterior boundary, or contours of the objects is measured by an array of light beams and associated light sensors. The contour measurement is employed to provide a first estimate of the object geometry needed to compute an electrical parameter image from the acquired charge distribution pattern.
