Abstract: PURPOSE: An oral composition is provided to suppress generation of a biofilm and to prevent dental plaque because an active ingredient with plaque suppression ability remains on the surface of the teeth, thereby preventing gingival diseases. CONSTITUTION: An oral composition for preventing dental plaque contains alginic acids or alginate and a cationic antibacterial agent as active ingredients. The cationic antibacterial agent is selected among cetyl pyridinium chloride, chlorhexidine digluconate, chlorhexidine hydrochloride, benzethonium chloride, zinc chloride, and zinc citrate. The oral composition contains 0.001-3 wt% of the cationic antibacterial agent.
